Could someone tell me how many different 50 cent pieces have been made in Australia .
Well not me without a lot of research. But someone will know (watch this space). If we are lucky we might even get a list of them.

Hello and welcome. At least 350 when I stopped counting last year. They make new ones almost daily so probably well over 400 by now.

The 50 is quickly becoming like the $1 and just too many to keep track of so hundreds and hundreds but depends on if your talking circulated or adding in NCLT, mint and proof sets and precious metals and varieties etc etc, and talking to another member the other day and was told RAM is putting out a heap more 50 cent for the games next year + the regular coins :( Welcome RB and TB, hope ya's enjoy the site :good:

Collecting decimals. Caution – have nothing to do with the Perth Mint.
You must set rules. Collect either:
1. Everything including gold, proof, frog-shaped and diamond-encrusted (won't be long). You will go bankrupt, then mad.
2. Just the basemetal coins: then you have different packaging, proof-only, mysterious early mint markings requiring you to go cross-eyed, rarities that slipped through, subtle varieties. You obviously started out mad. You will now go bankrupt.
3. Basemetal coins including NCLT, but no proofs and ignore the cardboard. Unless you started collecting in 1966 you will go mad.
4. Just the circulated coins. Not so much fun, but you might stay solvent. You will add the NCLTs once the bug digs in. Then you will go mad.
5. Nothing. Sane, but sad.
I agree about the setting of the rules. But then you figure you can't abide by your own rules because of some obscure issue or issues that are beyond your means or multiple issues that are just ridiculous....and you quit.

Getting a full set of Florins used to be a tough call but now it is a "walk in the park" compared to putting together a full set of $1 or 50c coins :angel:
