Title: 2005 20c proof mule
Post by: Mister T on December 20, 2015, 10:10:09 PM
Is there more than one of these or not? And when was the last sale of one? My McDonalds (a year or two old) says that the last sale was in 2007 which may well be right but I'm looking to find some images and the ebay sale from 2006 no longer has images.

Yes that's the one. I haven't really been paying much attention but I don't recall seeing one for sale any time recently.

Anyone with time on their hands could have a browse on CCF forum (http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6833&whichpage=2) and summarise here :)

There is a bit of a mashup of comments and it's unclear what set is being referred to. I think the $3050 eBay set is a 2006 set/2005 proof MOR not the platy 20c error because I bought it.

Emu (thesandpit) suggests there is 8 sets, I think he's referring to this coin. perhaps he will comment here.

Yes I'll have a look on CCF but the search there doesn't return the results in a useful way.

So after reading the rest of http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6833&whichpage=1 it seems likely that there is more than one (a post on the fourth page suggests eight) but I can't find any other sales - possibly explaining the lower profile these coins have.

Things that are posted on the facebook pages are very quickly deleted after they are answered/sold/unsold and any information that's provided is lost. Hence the same questions are asked over and over and over and over and over *yawn*

I know a Tassie seller from the FB site has his 06 proof set with 05 proof MOR for sale possibly there but I saw it on eBay recently. Perhaps Robbie has this mixed up.

Ah that's annoying.

So it's been a while but has anyone seen a sale of one of these coins?
Are there are any third party graded examples?

https://www.pcgs.com/pop/detail.aspx?c=5075&p=PR&t=4 seems to suggest PCGS hasn't graded one anyway.

Anyone seen one sell in the last little while? I'm not in any of the Facebook selling groups to have seen.

Actually it looks like PCGS has graded one: https://www.pcgs.com/cert/38352072
No recent sales listed though.
