Title: Lousy coin storage
Post by: trout on December 11, 2015, 10:11:45 AM
I just found this listing for a Maundy set .
Would you even contemplate buying these?

:swoon: .... Crikey I didn't realise that using 2x2s was that expensive.

Ouch.  We have a nice original 1902 matte proof maundy set that is stored in really nice SAFLIPS (http://www.thepurplepenny.com/1692,great-britain-1902-matte-proof-maundy-set.html) after being removed directly from the 1902 Short Proof set box it's lived in for the last 113 years

Overlapping coins hides a multitude of sins.

There was a Maundy coin in the MNS auction the other night. Went for a pretty penny too.

Just sussed Chris's other thing and 1 he is one person that should really know better than to have them like that and 2 he also has other sets the same.

That looks like a rather nice set, I don't think it will stay on your books for long. :good:

The way PP packs a coin I could get her to send me a quails egg and it would arrive in perfect condition :good:

Not necessarily with Australia Post. My wife once received a box of china, flattened with tyre track right across it.
OK, accidents happen but why did they just leave it at the front door and sneak off -we were home at the time. Good customer relations would have been to personally deliver it along with an apology and a claim form. Maybe even to give us a phone call earlier in the delivery process -they had her name and address and we are listed in the phone book.
We presume it fell off a loading dock and was not noticed until after the truck departed. [And then everyone pretended it must have been about to happen after it left their hands.]
