Title: 1994 $1 MOR Cold Shut / Lamination

This one is quite unusual with regards to it's blanket like covering of the legend and the void areas at each end.

Being right on the edge of the planchet, it likely started to separate before being struck. So there would have been a certain springiness to it.

More interesting to me is what looks like a crack from the tip of the crown to the edge. Is it?

Unfortunately I don't think it is Fulvio. Although a tooth pick knows it's there and stops, under magnification it looks more like a pmd scratch (though it's placement is rather "die crackish"). There is another void in the hair, just below the crown that you can see in both images, it looks more a flaw than pmd though.

Really?

See, I would have called that void a scratch, and the line appears raised, judging by the shadow. See if you can get some light on it at a really shallow angle.

See, if it is a crack, then its a repeatable error. Nice though flaws are, each one is unique, so doesn't really contribute much to the discussion.

Here's a couple more pics. The upper right one has an arrow roughly where the scratch starts. The upper left shows some dug up metal on the left side of the scratch nearest the rim which is what stops a toothpick I'd imagine. The mark on the head could well be pmd too  though it is a pretty odd shape.

The best thing for me is black betty! Bam-ba-Lam!!!!
