Was sorting through some mint sets checking for PVC contamination damnit :dash1::lazy2: when I noticed this. Just wondering if anyone has previous knowledge of the 1966 5 cent with two anomalies on the inner rim adjacent to the echidna's head.

That IS interesting and a rather nice coin to Boot :good:
It's not on any of my pictures of 1966 5c.

Nope. I've only seen rim spurs on 50ยข, $1 and $2 that I can recall.
Nice find. Especially in that condition.
Slightly related, does anyone have any theories of how they come about? I would assume edge nicks on the die, but they seem too consistent to be blunt force trauma from a dropped tool or similar.
die bubbles?

On the edge? Nah. Too consistent anyway. A bubble in the chrome plating would change shape slightly, and eventually break off leaving a surface cud.
not necessarily, i'll ask me mate who used to make those dies
