So I bought this coin a while ago in a bulk lot from a coin dealer at a coin show for spot. It went into a file that I only recently went through and I saw this one. I am thinking proof?
thoughts?
sorry about the poor quality pics but it is a bit overcast here today

looks proof to me :ok:
It has squared rims with wire lines on rims ,mirror finish ,rounded beads and denticles , the only thing i can't see is the queen's hair fringe isn't touching her forehead tho might be angle of photo
Hair line looks to be touching to me
Yeh its touching, just an average picture
I am tossing up if I should get it graded or not. A few hairlines on Lizzie's side will see it knocked down a bit
My guess it would go pr64 maybe a pr65
Not bad for $2.50
I bought a couple of sheets of post 46 florins from a coin dealer and this was in with them :)
you gotta be a cat
cause you seem to always land on all fours mate!
lol Robbie, I wish, I just don't post up my many stuff ups.
I see it as a numbers game, 10 loss's made up by 1 win.
plus it is more like treasure hunting to buy boxes of coins unsorted and see what's in them. I have purchased many a box of coins unopened at auctions/garage sales
plus it means my collections gets diverse and interesting
I actually found a 1923 1/2d in a bag of coins bought at a garage sale that the kids had been playing house with for several years.
only cost me $5 and if I didn't buy it them it was going into the bin (I was told this after I bought it!)
was mighty fun to noodle when I got home that night :)
What a great pickup Serial!
(And thanks Belly for the identification info :good: ..... I unfortunately had to part with my 1960 & 1963 proof sets back in my 1992 financial collapse :cray:).

I've never had that kind of luck at garage sales. Good work!

I don't think "Luck" comes into it , I think it is a case of persistance and a a heap of effort and work.
Well done Serial :good:
