I think this might be PMD rather than a strikethrough, although there seems to be an absence of moved metal, nor are there any impact marks on the obverse ........ thoughts?

Looks like it took a Hit Mate, PMD

It would have had to have been something soft, like a piece of lint maybe, to get squashed down into the letters without leaving a big cavity on the field. But it might be exactly that. Or it might be PMD.
Either way, I probably wouldn't keep it. Its just too vague, even for me. ;)
I am leaning towards strike through.
Edit: My reasoning is that there does not seem to be any displaced metal, the edges of the letters still seem the right shape, and there seems to be some depression in the field too - top left of the "T" and between the "T" and "E", but there are so clear edges of the letters. If there was something hitting hard enough to go through to the field I thin the edges of the letters would be obliterated.
Those are my thoughts, but I don't think it is conclusive.
I am leaning toward PMD but would not put money on it.
Thanks for the feedback all!
A pic from another angle, this shows the high points that remain on the letters. I like how the centre of the E slopes up towards the N and how it has an island in the middle and it's leg tips. The A appears to have been lightly affected on the base it's legs. (Yeah ok ..... it's been a slow day :laugh2:)
