Title: Fake Coins
Post by: trout on August 24, 2015, 09:30:22 AM
I got these in the mail the other day with a bunch of other coins.
There is NO "Copy" on any of these but they are Genuine FAKES and I believe that they were made with the full intention of "Duping" the unweary collectors out there .
If they were intended to be "Gap Fillers" then there should be "COPY" stamped onto the coin :dodgy:
Here are some images for future reference, These are destined to be drilled and put onto my keychain :ok:

What, no 1937 penny!
I bought some gap filler reproductions from Hong Kong once for an acquaintance. $7.50 each, including a 1937 penny.
I have yet to see an album with a slot for that coin so I don't know what gap he wanted to fill.

That was my first and last time -the coins advertised were clearly stamped 'copy' but the ones received were not. And, they had been artfully aged and (a little) marked to make them look like aging consistent with the dates on them.

One obvious conclusion as to what the market is for them.

Would love to pop one of those fake 30 or 37's in a 2X2 and drop on the floor at a coin show, then stand back and watch on. :diablo:
