Title: 1966 Pattern $1 or 50c?
Post by: planchetflaw on August 18, 2015, 01:39:06 PM
Hello,

I was wondering if anyone who had been to the mint recently could remember if the attached photo was of potential designs for a $1 coin or potential designs for a 50c. Unfortunately I was too stupid to get a photo with all the details.

Thanks,

I think it's for a $1 too - one exactly like one of them (can't remember which) sold at auction recently.

Thank you. I saw that one but just wasn't sure if it was the same as the one held at the RAM on display.

Thanks again!

At 24.42g this would be a lot larger than a 25mm dollar coin.
No size is mentioned on the Nobles listing but I imagine it may have been Crownish size with that much metal in it.
Probably the same size as the Swan Dollar.
