Title: 2015 $1
Post by: MattGold on July 21, 2015, 09:28:45 AM
Hey all how's it going?

Has anyone come across this one yet? Slightly dips into the nose. 17 out of 20 in the roll had the same flaw, the one in the image though is the biggest one. Blue circle photo is a normal 2015 $1. Thanks in advance

Cool Matt, looks to be the impression of a breaking die (ie: before it breaks off and starts leaving a CUD).

Can't wait to eventually find some 2015 coins to actually noodle!

Anybody heard any whispers on the likely mintage of the 2015 $1?

Well the 2014 $1 is apparently a low mintage, I'm assuming because they minted so many of the 100 years of anzac $1s. I'm hoping it's the same assumption for 2015 $1s.

Since you're buying rolls from a third party, I'm hoping (for you) that it will be similar to the 2014 MOR. Fingers crossed eh!

Possibly a higher mintage than 2015 MOR $1 there is the usual sellers who have bucket loads of rolls of these

Maybe the 2015 100 years anzacs will be the lower one this year

:dontknow: So far I haven't seen any indication from the RAM that the MOR will be low mintage - certainly not the hoopla like the 2014 MOR, but who knows (well not us yet!). The RAM may just be taking a different approach with the 2015 MOR.

Those number sound a little lower than last years anda, can't remember but think they said 10,000 for brissie.

Are the hairline cracks on the queens face not very common on Australian coins?  Over here in NZ we get them on most denominations but mainly 20c - $1 with that design. $1 coins are the worst but that's what you get when the Royal Mint is used (Quality control must be a thing of the past) http://tinyurl.com/2004wartchin This page might take a bit to load but shows it on a NZ $1
