This one didn't even cover inflation, or is it the downturn in the economy!

Yeah first prefix but in fine condition. Banknotes are in a bit of a low atm. When I first got into collecting I was reading that they are going up 17% per annum. Since then they have stayed steady around the same value. Which is half catalogue value for most notes.
So the question is why did you have it. Passed down, held onto it, investment or collectable? For a collectable AWESOME, first ever $20 note printed (for circulation). A good conversational piece.
For investment maybe not so good. Had that $20 been put in an investment account in 66 you may have close to $100 in there now. A 1st prefix $20 C/W in UNC condition would probably sell around $150 plus on the ebay atm so perhaps better than investment in that sense. For investment unc notes are the go. But I wouldn't put all the eggs in one basket. there are metals, properties, banks etc...
Anyway I feel they will start to increase again but in a few more years

I agree with that. It's not something I would buy.
