Hi all,
Been looking for something to store my round "66" 50c pieces and came across this. Does anyone know if there ok as to the plastic used or does anyone have any better ideas.
Thanks.

Why not simply roll them in paper ?
If they are just bullion grade coins get one of them cloth bank bags and store them in that.
If they are uncirculated coins then the best option is saflips heat sealed then stored in the bags or even ice-cream containers :ok:
I wouldn't spend anything on them. After all, they're never going to be worth more than scrap value, even UNC. Depending on how many you have, roll them up and seal them into a standard coin bag.
Save your storage costs for things that deserve it. ;)
Go to the airtite coins Web page and have a read. I think they are archival and are a very convenient way to store coins. My coin dealer gets his from pharmacies and it is a beaut way to store coins

Make sure the paper doesn't contain Sulphur as it blacken the coins

Almost certainly extruded Acrylic or Polycarbonate, which come by the metre. The end caps will be Polypropylene or High Density Polyethylene.
All of which are safe materials.
thanks mate
Thanks again, proofguy haha.
I have seriously considered buying some of those capsule tubes myself as I end up with all my 'spare' pre-decimal coins - mostly average circ
I had them in numis albums and they seemed to do quite ok but with al the talk here I took them out and ditched the albums
now that said coins are reasonably homeless
I bought a stack of flips and pages to store them but honestly those old average circ pre-decimals aren't really worth the effort
but I believe that silver coins are a different story but if you had heaps of simple bullion 50c (@ 80% silver) then i'd reckon those capsules would be perfect
!. It is the $1 coin s I store in old M & M Capsules and not the 50c pieces.
2. All my 1966 50 c pieces are rolled tightly into the small plastic coin envelopes that the nacks issue you with and sealed with a bit of sticky tape.
Cost: Zilch.
Stores all ok.
Use what works for you

Heat seal 'em. Just remember the gas porosity though. I've actually been thinking about PSA
(Pressure Swing Adsorbtion) Nitrogen generators using Zeolite as the adsorbent. It works the same way as Silica Gel does to adsorb water, only it does it with pressurised tanks. Pretty much exactly like those little portable oxygen generators some people use. I don't think LDPE would keep the Nitrogen in, but metallised Mylar certainly would. And without Oxygen, coins
should be safe.
RG: We could always research the cost of the tubing and see about sourcing end caps somewhere... ;)
