Title: Just for fun, cleaned one
Post by: 5 rubles on April 26, 2015, 04:49:43 PM
This well circulated 1981 1 cent coin cleaned with vinegar and salt solution for a couple of hours. I usually use that to clean copper pots but worked well with this too.

Did you use same mild hydrocloric acid too SULLA? I would never use this on any other coins but the most stained and corroded ones.  Silver coins come nice and clean if placed in an aluminium container and add warm water and baking soda. Cheap and effective cleaning.

Interesting use of the word 'well'. :P

I've just been noodling some of the 2ยข pieces I scored from the banks last week (already found two clips, BTW). First sort was to separate nice shiny coins from ruined scrap coins and everything else. There were lots of coins just like this one.

Guess which bucket they went into?
