Title: 1988 $5 Error
Post by: Fulvio on April 24, 2015, 02:02:46 AM
As I may have mentioned, I'm getting a ton of mutes out of the banks while searching for the Red $2. Mostly copper, but some 1988 $5. Given that they were issued in both safe and unsafe packaging, and since one of them was loose, I was having a looksee for PVC damage *(there was none)* when I spotted this:

Of course it would be the loose coin, so it has picked up a little crud in its travels, but still pretty close to original condition, which is to say much much better than anything issued into circulation this century. :)

Got three more of these things today. That makes five branches with them this week.

Two have PVC damage, one was still in its PVC sleeve. BOO! :(

But the third is another one of these errors! :wavemulticolor:

Oh, and I won the battle with the CBA manager who refused to let me take their copper. I cited RBA chapter and verse, she rang head office, and caved in. The tellers were overjoyed to be able to ditch $60 of copper. :)
