Title: Banknote acquisitions
Post by: trout on April 22, 2015, 08:05:09 AM
There isn't a thread that deals with new Banknote acquisitions so I thought I would start one :)
I don't often buy Banknotes but I couldn't walk past these.
The 1 pound note came from Numisbid and the 5 pound note came from eBay.

Bought from Numisbid aUnc $85

Very nice notes and a good price as well.

I really like our pre-decimal notes.

Nice looking notes and they were real currency, not like the plastic notes of today.

I agree Bruce, You just have to sniff them to smell "Real Money" Far better than the recycled plastic bags we call notes today :yahoo:

Very nice Jim.I've gone off banknotes and haven't bought any for a few years
but still have a substantial collection.Hopefully they will hold their value into
the future

Yes it make one wonder what else is tucked away safe and sound in other areas, universal have a few notes for auction and one that really surprised me is a VG95 $50 that they estimate to go for a bit over $100 and to think it was only about 4 or 5 year ago they were pulling $500 so it just goes to show how the prices can really fluctuate from time to time as give it another few years and they'll probably be over $500 but that's where Uni's crystal ball comes in..and I said ball not balls peoples  :winkextra:

if they put it on display I will go and have a look
it may well deteriorate now that it is out of the storage vault
