A total lunar eclipse will be visible from anywhere in Australia tonight but....Bad weather may rain on unusual Easter eclipse (http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2015/04/02/4210045.htm). The link also includes viewing times.
Best bet for clear sky is Adelaide.
The moon sets here in Chicago before the eclipse is total. West of the Mississippi river it's total for all of 4 minutes 43 seconds although the full event takes 3 hours 29 minutes to complete.
it is my son's 25th birthday today
nice full moon tonight as it was on the night he was born
about every 11 or so years his birthday times with Easter
we have heaps of cloud here tonight
and apparently this eclipse is ok to look at with the naked eye and/or binoculars
Lunar eclipse is fine to view directly (if cloud clears). Will be a nice "blood moon" this one.
Just this moment stepped outside at 2118 hours and the bottom right has just started to change colour.
Full overcast here. Might as well go to bed.

Blue Moon Lunar Eclipse: How And When To Watch In Australia (https://www.lifehacker.com.au/2018/01/how-to-watch-the-total-lunar-eclipse-in-australia/)
I'm in Melbourne and will pop out and have a look. Thanks for the info.
Looks like no blue moon in Sydney with all the cloud about - we'll just have to hang out for another 150 years :(

Just sing along ......
I have just been outside, 2010 hours, and cloud cover in Melbourne.
Maybe we'll miss it unless the cloud clears in the meantime.
Completely overcast in Brissie. :cray:
Just popped outside about 5 minutes ago and saw the start of the eclipse. Bottom right of the moon, about 5 o'clock position.
Now can't see a damn thing, clouds.
Time of viewing, 2242 hours.
this is what we could see.
I'm shouting at the clouds to go away!
A few minutes ago, the moon surface was in total shadow of an eclipse. Time approx. 2348 hours.
The moon is reflecting a reddish brown colour as the clouds break up.
Almost fully covered: (Approx 2344 hours):

Good work Goldie! :ok:
The cloud cover in Sydney ruined any hope of a better viewing other than a small glimpse at about 11.15pm.
Pedro
Overcast here too.
Here is a picture my sister put on Facebook. She's at Beechworth so must have been fine there.

Your sister has done well with those photos Jeff (I should have stayed in Albury a couple of more days!) :good:

Monument Hill (https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attraction_Review-g255314-d1183435-Reviews-Monument_Hill_War_Memorial-Albury_New_South_Wales.html) would have been an excellent vantage point. What a great view from there anytime.

Yep, could just about have touched the moon from up there ;)
Pedro
For those who missed it on Wednesday night, there will be another chance ... in 2037.
This is the best I could get out at sea.
