Title: My shop was on fire
Post by: Bigfellani5 on March 30, 2015, 12:52:36 PM
Hi guys

Someone broke into my shop last night and set it on fire. A lot of smoke damage. I am still selling online but orders over the next few weeks could be slow as I have to get new stock in to replace damaged stock. Will have my shop back open as soon as I can. Keep an eye on my Facebook page for updates.

That's really bad news Bigfellani, sorry to hear of it.

I hope everything returns to normal as quickly as possible and that they catch those responsible for it.

Newcastle Coins website (http://www.newcastlecoins.com.au/)

That's a real bummer. I suppose lots of water damage as well as fire damage too.

Thanks guys. A little water damage but mostly smoke. Black stuff everywhere. Hope to be back in action in no time. The insurance man should come through. Hope to be in full swing again by Newcastle coins  10th birthday in May.

bummer
were they more vandals than professional thieves?
hope that you can get the business back to normal ASAP (with a little bit of 'hassle free' help from the insurance too)

Yeah, hope your got Insurance,i just saw your shop on NBN News, they certainly made a mess.
Barry Cooper in Ballina had a similar thing, minus fire, some time back, thieves broke front window and grabbed anything they could but fortunately he had everything of real value locked in his big safe(looked like one out of a Hollywood Western). They did get some old Pound/Shilling notes and unbelievably went straight to the local Pub and more unbelieavably the Publican cashed the notes in for grog, didn't take the Police long to grab them so i hope the same happens to your ratbags.

No nice stuff got away. All can be replaced. It will be the time closed that will hurt. Won't get my daily coin fix!

That's bloody awful. What kind of bastards will set fire to things they couldn't steal? This is like Saddam Hussein setting fire to Kuwait oil fields.

It is more common nowadays as thieves try to destroy any DNA evidence they may have left behind

Bad news to hear but it is the inconvenience of it all.

Hope all goes well and you back in full "production" in a very short space of time.

Scum is everywhere walking the streets day and night looking to steal anything to hock for their habits
Shane that is terrible news please upgrade security measures like CCTV + full shutters on shopfront when you're back in business

Man that sucks.

Theft is the least of it in my experience... I got done a couple of times, and the damage bill was an order of magnitude more than they got away with.

As for destroying DNA, most of these Mensa candidates aren't that clever. More likely they do it for the kicks... like the night they built a pretty effective blast furnace on the footpath out of the newsagent's paper delivery. The heat was that intense it shattered the window some six feet away in the ten minutes it took the fire brigade to rock up after I rang them.

Shutters are good and can at least slow them down and makes a noise but cctv is only good after the fact and then it's too late, maybe an alarm that has a direct line to the cop shop might be a better idea..just a thought

I just watched the repeat of last night's NBN news on the satellite TV.
It certainly looks a mess -big clean up job there.

Hi,

I hope it all gets sorted so you can get back to business soon. There was a Ram raid at the local Jeweller, watched the footage and it was a bit like the Blues Brothers. I hope they are also caught. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-03-30/early-morning-ram-raid-in-canberras-north/6358302
