Title: Lock for Cash Box
Post by: Coiny Chris on March 22, 2015, 04:00:10 PM
Hello,

I am chasing some locks, they are often called Cam locks. Now most have a thread and the hole ( round top and bottom with 2 flat sides ) are about 3/4 inch, or 19mm. I am after a smaller size, 16mm or 5/8. They use a retainer clip, the larger ones tend to have a thread and nut. I have been looking on Ebay, but cant find the smaller size. Has anyone seen them with a different name used ?

I have a tool drawer trolley that has 16mm lock. I have one spare for it as some idiot locked it and stuck the key inside when it was it the shop and they gave me a spare. I managed to fish out the original key with some wire thus avoiding having to wreck the lock to get the drawers open.
If you want more than one then perhaps a tool supplier or auto parts shop might have them.

PS. The trolley is my coin storage unit.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply, I have seen some in the US, but cost and freight dont make it worth buying. The bigger size I can get for less than $2 delivered, or a new tin for $12. I use these to put Ammo in, and have a cable that goes around the seat mount and through the Tin. Having a Ute, there is no boot to lock things in. I want to comply with rules, and be seen to do so.

Cool Jeff .... I guess your coins are a combination of SAE, Metric and Whitworth?
