Talk about doing things the hard way...
Much easier to turn them into tiles, sitting comfortably at a table, then glue the tiles down.
BTW... http://www.littlethings.com/penny-floor-tile/
when they finish the hallway with this lot , will that put more value on the price of the house when they sell it ???, I wonder . ,, kel ,,
I wondering if the foundations of the house will take the weight of all them coins?
I wonder how their house insurance will accept the new flooring?
They'll have to cover the coins with glass or something else that's transparent if they want to be able to clean that floor.
Slab floors aren't all that uncommon :laugh2:
You would use a clear resin to coat and protect the coins.! Fulvio's idea to make tiles first by sticking to a netting base makes much more sense also. I prefer a fireplace, would keep the heat in for days!!

At about $4 per kilo, that $200 floor is neither heavy nor expensive. Cheaper than tiles, for sure. And probably lighter.
Doesn't even need a resin topcoat either... just grout it to fill in the gaps and be done with it. Metal is at least as hard-wearing as wooden floorboards after all. And if any come loose, easy enough to replace them.
The coins looks a bit small for penny in the photo. Are they penny's or 2 cent pieces?
MKONST ,
I would think , U S A . pennies as called by them living in the U S A

No, this falls into the category of "I saw someone else on the Internet doing it, so I'm doing it too".

It's "penny" in the sense of "American 1 cent coin".
Thanks, reading the initial post I assumed it was someone on this forum or in Australia who was doing this.
I also rememberd the other post requesting 75kg of copper and put 1 and 1 together in my mind.
75 kilos of copper - good grief - who was after that?
I think it was someone who had a bit of plumbing to do :D
