Title: Looking for Bugler Louie
Post by: purplepennyhunter on January 26, 2015, 06:49:06 PM
Picked this up the other day thinking it was cool. Came up a complete fail at trying to figure out who bugler Louie was and his friend Muriel. I love it but I wish I knew it's history. It was a high grade coin once too!

Might be WW2 as it is an English die and has the style of one struck in the 1930s.
Did the men in our army refer to themselves as buglers if they played reville or were in a military band? I'm thinking it might be a yank as they had dedicated bugle corps (remember From Here to Eternity).
Probably a million yanks passed through Australia but I doubt there were that many buglers and very few with that name.
