Title: Labelling 2x2
Post by: mkonst on January 19, 2015, 10:48:34 PM
Hi,
Reading the forum and looking at my old collection, I've decided to move to 2x2 for storing coins.
The question I have now, is there a standard approach to labelling 2x2, say

Top left - year
Top right - denomination
Bottom left - grading
Bottom right - estimated value or cost

Thanks

Each person has their own system.
I record purchase details (seller, cost, date of purchase) to see what the coins originally cost me and who sold me a good (or bad) coin.
I also record things like details of die cracks and other die identification marks.
I never bother recording estimated value (subjective and changes with time).

I detailed my approach some time ago, in http://www.australian-coins.net/showthread.php?tid=1136

Its still a work in progress, held up by my vision and other medical traumas, but the basic concept is to put the basics on the coin, and link to an online repository which can be as detailed as you like. Detail photos, provenance, valuations, whatever you like can be compiled in whatever form you like, and brought up easily anytime, anywhere.

You can even produce index pages for your albums quite easily.
