Hi guys. As I'm sure you all know, the red 2002 Accession PNC is one of the most sought after PNCs and usually sells for around $200.
But have you seen the other even scarcer 2002 Accession PNC with the solid silver 50 cent coin??
These are almost never seen and I suspect very few Australian collectors have one. I have attached a picture.
Cheers

Oh more PNC discussion. Kindly moved to the new and improved etc and PNC's forum.
From memory there are a few private issues around from that period, a few "people" were trying to cash in on PNC popularity a of the time.
O, it’s a privately issued one.
I was scratching my head going what?
I have seen $2 poppy ones on the bay

if you look at the sellers completed items, they produce a few different things.

This PNC was made by Mercury of the UK and is part of the Westminster Collection "The Golden Jubilee Luxury Coin Cover Collection" (only silver coins used) with an Edition Limit of only 500 (see attached scan of back of PNC's carded sleeve). The Australian 2002 Accession PNC is also included in their standard Golden Jubilee Coin Cover Collection (see attached scan). I guess if you only call Australia/Royal Mail genuine PNC's then Mercury would probably be the largest private manufacturer of PNC's in the world. This stunning PNC is a proud part of my collection!

This is an overseas issue by Mercury with a limited edition of 500. Typically each of their PNC production runs go into the 10's of thousands and they've been around much longer than Australia Post have been making PNC's for. I have included a couple scans of other PNC's by Mercury that are popular with Australian collectors, Royal themes are common with Mercury.

I really like those PNC's that you have highlighted, they are bright and original with a great theme plus the coin matches the theme.
I personally only dislike the ebay sellers that just add a coin in an Australia Post FDC to create their PNC's or those that overprint Australia Post PNC issues and sell them as limited edition rarities.
Wow, been away from this forum for a long time.... tooo long! nice to be back!
Anyhows, yep I have one of those silver ones... and a few of those "regular" red ones... I have seen two of the silver ones come up for sale in the last 5 years (the first one I picked up, the second was well overpriced)
What I am missing is the folder sheet as seen in PNC Collector's first post above... anyone know where these can be found / purchased? I am guessing that you would have to purchase a whole pack (and as you might assume, I am only after the pages that have the fiddy PNCs on it!)
Oz 50c Man. I might be able to source a folder sheet for the 2002 Accession PNC (silver variety). Are you interested in it?

Hi guys. I've got one of these covers for sale on ebay...
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300946210655
What do you think of the price?
Dreamcatcher
Hi Dreamcatcher,
Your ad on Ebay does not make it clear as to whether you have the accompanying explanation cover sheet with the PNC.
If the cover is included then your starting price is about right, but if the cover sheet is not included, your starting price would probably need to be lowered.
As was pointed out by an earlier poster, this PNC does not turn up often on Ebay Australia, but a number have appeared exclusively on the Ebay UK site in recent times, without the cover sheet, and have attracted a price around 60 pounds, which is equivalent to A$100 plus postage.
By the way, the correct title of the PNC is Zambia and the Falkland Islands.
Cheers

Thanks Peter. There is no cover sheet with this one. I'll see how we go.
Is the coin a Proof or unc?
Hi Runway,
The coin is silver proof. Most of the mintage of 13,500 was sold as individually boxed coins by RAM.
See Ebay item 290957871462 as an example of how they were packaged. Typically they sell for around the $50 to $60 mark in that packaging.
The uniqueness of the Zambia and Falkland Islands PNC is that the coin has been repackaged in a limited edition A4 sized PNC.
Cheers

Thanks for your question runway. Peter is correct, this is the silver proof coin and I have revised the listing to make that clearer.
Given that the silver proof 2002 Accession coin has a mintage of 13,500 while the copper/nickel version has a mintage of over 30,000 I would argue that the reason the latter commands a premium is simply because it is presented as a PNC and is therefore more desirable to collectors.
This particular item contains the silver coin with a lower mintage and is presented in a PNC with a total release of only 500 units. Admittedly it's not an Australia Post PNC but in my opinion this is the most desirable numismatic presentation.
Nice revision it makes item description clearer.I haven't seen any of the proof versions before were they issued in Australia as a single proof coin?
Seen this PNC on ebay with $20 postage I think seller is dreaming :)

Interesting item runway, 5 separate coins.
That's not a bad group of Royal 50c.
Gee I like the design of the 2006 Royal Visit.
I think the 2003 Golden Jubilee 50 cent coin is a far more interesting coin , As this is the ONLY Ali/Bronze 50 cent coin ever made by the mint.
These are still available as a PNC at affordable prices :good:
Thanks guys I seen the PNC proof in the CAB magazine today Paul Owen great article :)
