The seller wrote "I collect different stuff at times and this is one of them. Probably never see something like it again."

I have lots of different stuff he can buy from me if this is the calibre of what he collects and the price at which he buy/sells it.

Looks like that coin was removed from salt water and cleaned up a bit.

I had plenty of coins that looked liked that and I have melted down into three home made silver bars.

Remember reading if the horses hooves appear to be slightly sunken into the base line, this was an indication of a possible fake. Not totally certain but could be. Heh, a fake with a variety?

If it was a fake I doubt the seller would know. Had a few conversations with him when he lived in Brisbane (assuming item location NT means he's moved), and from what I remember him saying, his main interest was simply a numbers game.

Definitely "harshly cleaned". Maybe after the blowtorch was removed!

Whatever, you should tell him he's dreaming.

I have a number of detector finds and beach finds and they look nothing like that florin. I also have a few contemporary fakes and they also don't look like that. So what caused those lumps? Not a chance it left the mint like that. A bad attempt at making a fake?

I thought it looked like a coin pulled from a melting pot just before it melted

Maybe Jeff is close to the truth with the blow torch comment.
