Interesting to hear concerns raised about the lack of posts, but more importantly IMHO is the lack of posts from a wider section of the membership. The reasons could be many and as previously mentioned in another thread could centre around issues such as feelings of non inclusion, intimidation, inferiority, worthiness or simply just an inclination not to be involved. As I see it a desire to be involved centres directly around the ability of the hobby to inject interest and imagination into the conversation as well as the introduction of mystery and intrigue into the general collecting themes.
On the subject of mystery and intrigue, the general oversupply of the dollar series IMHO has been responsible for a decline in interest of this collecting theme. I personally made a decision a couple of years ago only to collect the plain Al Br dollars. I made a point of not collecting coloured dollars after the AIR series, and now that the A to Z coloured dollars are upon us I feel vindicated. My plan is to stay committed to al br up to and including the 50th anniversary of decimalisation. After that it is strictly counter stamped dollars only. That's just me, but I no longer feel any sense of intrigue in this theme.
I realise the obvious response from the RAM would be that what we collect is up to the individual, but we wouldn't have to display too big a cynical streak to understand that other forces know how the mind of a compelled collector operates. I'm just glad I was a able to dislodge the hook earlier on.
I don't really have a problem with the number of counter stamped dollars being produced at various locations and events, I just wish the RAM would actually do as they say and limit these coins to those collectors (or opportunists) who attend on the day, instead of supplying pre stamped coins to the collector market via dealers. I understand by doing this, as well as placing a limit per customer, it would certainly make it difficult for some collectors to obtain an example of a particular counter stamp, but in my opinion this very act would help to re inject the hobby with a dose of intrigue which is sadly lacking at the moment.
I remember as a child the feeling of mystery and intrigue, passed on to me by my Father surrounding the 1930 penny, and the newspaper reports of lucky individuals who found them in their change. Of course this fervour will most likely never be experienced again, but a simple act by the RAM with regard to the counter stamped series could very well see a much heightened interest.
Naive and starry eyed those last two paragraphs, but honestly, something of this nature would be great for decimal collectors and the hobby in general
Mystery and intrigue are not necessarily what is needed (But would be interesting) , What we need are threads that fire up a collectors imagination or creates deep thought or discussion amongst us :ok:
Even confrontational and in depth questions are worth asking, Even if the thread turns into a "Bloodbath" We all walk away with something out of it (Sorry Mods) at the end of the day.
So, Leave your fear behind and If its worth the Prize it's worth the fight :yahoo:
Remember the Question is far more important than the answers.
I left school at 15 and entered the workforce, So my education is limited and I would assume that there are many More eminently qualified Members out there that could ask the pertinent questions Than me :good:
So stop "Posing" and "Lurking" and make an effort to ask some Pertinent questions you Mob.
The More questions the More answers , which equates in More knowledge gained for us all as a group That has to be a GOOD thing :yahoo:
I support fully the comments made above by both participants.
However, don't be put off by NEGATIVE reactions to your input or questions.
I have asked many questions for negative answers but has that put me off, certainly not.
Come on you lurkers out there, start posting and become an active member, PLEASE.
I have good intentions here but don't feel part of the group
On occasions I have questions that I would have put on the forum, Once or twice I have put questions on forums and have only had Negative or smart ass remarks by members that think they are so more Educated in the coin field that Questions by 'new bee's are something to make fun of or treat as a waste of time Than to give helpful aid. I'm sure many others out there have the same opinion as me. Moderators should remind these ''clever'' people that we all had to start some where.
I await the great educated out there to mock me for bad spelling, grammer and for having the ordacity to make such remarks, Sorry but true. tezza
Tezza: No one on this forum will knock you for bad spelling, your gramma or that "dumb" question. Remember, there is no such thing as a "dumb question". If you have question, then ask it.
I am sure that if any of members of this forum have a go at you then the others will take action to ensure that it weill not happen again.
Post away Tezza.

I am sorry to hear that you have had that experience. Please feel free to PM me with the names of members who you have had problems with.
Note to all, this sort of behavior will not be tolerated and action will (and is in the process of) being taken. To those of you who engage in such behaviour you should think about running away to another forum.
A ''BIG'' thank you to the members of this forum for the encorogment given to Me, And I hope,
Other forum readers to use this site. It great for other members to step foreward so quickly to
give us that little nudge to ask, And feel we will get informative responses, Thanks again tezza.
Good on you tezza for your initial post in this thread :good:
Don't worry about the spelling or grammar (Without the inbuilt spell checker on my system I would be Toast) , Its the content of the post that Truly counts :yahoo:
A lot of us here are "Old farts" and new collectors are vital to keep this great hobby alive and flourishing, So it is always great to see "New Blood" collecting.
Just because someone has heard the same question many times doesn't diminish the importance of giving an informative reply, The person posing the question is just as important as anyone else and deserves an answer to that question without making them feel embarrassed for asking it :ok:
So fire away Tessa and all the other New members , most of us here Truly do enjoy passing on the information we have garnered over the years.
Just when I thought I had my decimal collecting habits under control, one of our daughters who is a true battler with a family of her own, and we love her heaps, drops by and cheerfully gives me a Remembrance $2 she found in change. A small thing, but a great thing, and is now saflipped away in the album. Don't you just love this hobby:yahoo: :yahoo:
