Anyone know how scarce the 52 wedge serif is in UNC ?
Fairly easy to get in average condition I know.
This is the best I've seen.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Paul Holland (JNAA Volume 11, pages 25-39) has this variety as VS (very scarce) and the product of a single die.
I think I saw one listed on fleabay a few months ago in Unc.

Thats the pointed serif PPH.
A very nice one too.
Here is another wedge which shows the serif more clearly:

Thanks for that, it is amazing how many different 2's there are for that coin.

I found these in my junk penny bin

Trout, the first 2 you have looks like Melbourne.
Echidna, your first coin looks very weak in PENNY but the other one has it fully struck up. As one die only they are from the same die, so why so weak?

My guess is a later strike with some die fill going on.
Here is the obverse.

Both the reverse and obverse are weakly struck around the bottom (but well struck denticles); greasy dies?
The penny looks Unc but with issues, will you be slabbing it and will it make in the MS60-62 range?

Am I imagining this, or does the foot of the 2 in the first pic tilt further left than the 2 in the second pic? I think Fred Lever lists a left tilted wedge serif 2.

There is a nice pointed serif in PCGS MS63 in the upcoming Numisbid if anybody is thinking of collecting the '52 date varieties.

I was at Narooma on Monday and Tuesday, departed there for Melbourne Wednesday morning.

Had to go up and scatter my mothers ashes into the sea.   She loved Narooma and eventually built a holiday home at Kianga.   One of the first houses in Kianga to be built.

It is still standing but looks like a converted garage as compared to the other mansions that have been built over the last 50m years.

that would be a lovely spot to scatter ashes

I went to my former m-I-l funeral on the coast the other week and yes, her ashes will be scattered at lake tabourie a bit further up from Bateman's Bay

I still prefer a place for ashes - both of my parents have some real estate for their ashes at nice coastal cemeteries
But hundred's of people prefer that their ashes be placed/scattered where they truly loved to be when alive
