No, it would be blank or might say Kangaroos. No mention of mule or error.

Would not surprise me that a PCGS register person would
probably pay close to 10k for it. Deep pockets those guys/gals?

well it is 'technically' rarer than the 1930 penny
although equal in 'technically' not existing according to mint records

yeah i'd agree that it might be just the decimal coin to go for a bomb!

I don't collect decimals, but I would want one.

Neither do I, though technically I do as I do get the yearly mint set.

For me the '81 20c Scollop would be first choice.

I AM a decimal collector and I do love the 25mm dollar coins.
This coin is nothing less than Bloody AWSOME, Unfortunately my pockets are not deep enough to acquire this rare and wondrous coin :dash1:
Stunning Coin Eric :drooling: :good:

From memory there was about 20 of the Proof Sets found with this mule and $2000 was common asking price on secondary market back then
Looks like someone has decided to break it up and get the $1 coin slabbed
I certainly would keep the set intact

I wasn't quick enough when the Downies asking price was $1995 for that initial lot of about 30. I bought one about a month or two later for 3k.

Haven't seen one for sale for a while, my feeling over 5k. I'm guessing that one Eric has was slabbed for a collector for safe keeping and isn't for sale either.

Yes, I don't believe it is for sale at any price. Sadly.

As far as I can tell, this coin is not included in any registry sets:

Gee the 2005 proof $1 has a funny mark under the queens nose so I'm surprised it got a 68.

Looks like a 1 -0 suicide to me AJ.

BTW, probably showing my ignorance here, but what is the significance of the coin topic of this thread. No 2005 proofs, is that it? Easy to see I'm not into decimal proofs :)

Auto, I think the importance of the 2005 $1 MOR proof is that the 2005 proof set had the Dancing Man $1. The 2005 $1 Mob Of Roos proofs were found inside a few 2006 proof sets. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm not 100% but think Uni is on the money and no MOR only dancing man were meant to be minted :good:

Spot on AJ, there are only a handful of these "Mules" so far discovered and are so much rarer than the 2000 mule. :)

Thank's team. The blog reports a population of 40, so being such a small number, I suppose it wouldn't matter too much if the coin was removed from the proof set, or would it?

I don't think it would matter, as far as I know it could only come from that set. I guess some people would claim a premium for the set in tact.
