I've never really worried about these Coins in the past but would this be classified as a "2 stepper" ,2 and a bit or is it just plain old Vanilla one.?Thanks

This will be very interesting as I'd really like to know as well so thanks heaps for asking the question Basil, nice coin mate :good:
I suppose it depends on what you class as a step and bet everyone have a different view as to how many there should be, does the top become a step or not?
Well done AJ for keeping it constructive. I've been looking at heavyweight politicians to help explain the right side of the second step, but thought better of it.
(I stood on the landing above that when I was about 7 and took a photo of Lizzie (QEII) visiting from my Dad's shoulders ...... must get a copy of that photo when I visit my parents next).
2 steps for sure :good:
now this second step is that going up or coming down the steps :blush2:
so they only have two step and the landing ISN'T classed as a step so have I get this right now :scratch_one-s_head:
:laugh2: .... We might have to get RG to duck over and take some snaps for us.
I know I was on the right side of the steps (about 2 people back from Lizzie) and she was coming up the steps in the photo I took. I can't wait to see the photo again. Crikey that was a while back.
btw: Nice one Basil!
I don't know for sure just how many steps are at the real building because I have never been there, Its a lot more that 3 though.
The original coin design has 3 steps in it and normally the more steps the better the strike :ok:
There is quite a lot of discussion regarding the steps here.

You're an absolute legend RG!
Thanks so much!!!
I can see where I was now just to the right of the top three steps.
Wow! I remember there wasn't a lot of room and I had to get on Dad's shoulders. (He was the school bus driver on that excursion ...... shout out to Kel for the Bus Drivers!!! ..... Dad was a driver and the bus fleet mechanic from around 1967-2005 ....... got ya now Butler .... prior to that he was one of the local NRMA men 1950-1967).
He was one of the last persons in NSW to have an authorised inspection station that used paper based inspections forms.
Yes, computers were a bit too much for him .......
Thanks RG, so just one question for when I finally get down mate and that's who's gonna get up and get that unicorn and I'll drop it off to out unicorn on the way home..bags not..looks like it's Mr RG then 'cause there's too many steps, I'll hold the ladder for him :)
Yes, computers were a bit too much for him
Don't worry Uni I can relate mate :winkextra:
jeezuz mate
the fed. cops are everywhere in those places
even I wouldn't try to pinch the unicorn - not even if you filled me up with a WHOLE bottle of this brandy https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_381954/martell-l-or-de-jean-martell-700ml .... well, maybe i'd bring the ladder and the old man could do the getting arrested bit
looks like the Australian white house to me , but I don't see
Neville Bonner there any were ,
he was the most honest polli ever .. ,, kel ,,
:laugh2: ..... RG, you might have to track down Dawn Fraser and get some climbing tips! ROFL
Might be cheaper to get a couple of the young local roughians to take it for a flagon :)
Come on Kel we know there's no such thing so I know your pullin me leg now, like the other day with the rabbit ears you old trickster..hope you went well today, not long now mate :friends:
:laugh2: where is she Uni, Dawn that is not RG ;)

no Kel
Mr Bonner has gone to rest with the Elders who went before him
I liked him and knew him when I was young teenager
I used to talk to him about his aspiration to become a politician, my mother said he was just a mad ... you know what - fancy him thinking he'll become a senator
I really admired him
and I did a jig about hip hip hooray - when he DID become a senator!!
UNi - all I can do is LOOK at ladders - I'd fall off and your unicorn would not only be confiscated by the Feds but it would be a broken one too from my falling flat on my face - and that would be
before I'd polished off the $5 grands worth of brandy!! ha ha
:laugh2: ..... I'm a bit the same RG ..... having no depth perception was a real hair raiser today as I went down about 30 steps at my son's graduation!!!!
uugh
I am feeling dizzy already!!
congrats on the son's graduation as well
Thanks RG!

Here's a nice set of steps, at VP Coins. No vested interest, it's just after seeing this post I remembered looking at the coin while at Vic's other day.

Nice piece of history there Unicorn.
A C , that was my favourite shop when I lived in Brisbane , not far
away from vic,s store , just off wrecker road we lived near the
tavern , I have a brother who still lives in ham road
you must live close by , shame we are not still there or we could
meet up for a coldie . ,, kel ,,
Next time up up that way I'll also have to catch up with you auto, but you can have a coldie and I'll have a sars :drinks:
vp coins is just up the road from where I lived as a little billy lid too

Not far at all, I lived at Holland Park West down near the bus station, but moved bayside a couple of years ago. Still only 30 minutes from VP Coins though, his shop has moved around the corner to Logan Road, but still in Mt Gravatt Central.
Coldies are good anytime Kel, hopefully I'm retiring soon so plenty of time for a jar with you and AJ, we should do it. Interesting to hear RG once lived in the area as well.
Oops, sorry Basil, back to the steps. When I first got into collecting I purchased one of these coins in CHU grade without realising it had no steps at all. Your coin has two more steps than mine that's for sure.
my great great or something uncle owned the land that is now upper Mt Gravatt , made him wealthy man when he divvied it up & sold it after the war (according to Beryl - my mother ha ha)
lived in Somerfield st and went to (upper) mt Gravatt primary school
I still have family living there
I am from Brisbane - born in Herston
and keeping on topic, a no stepper is still a beautiful coin in it's own right and as nice as a two stepper

No worries,i enjoy the banter, usually hang around Forums while i wait for Coins to end on Ebay.
I assumed it was two steps but thanks to that previous link i can see where some do have the third step.I never worried much about these Coins before,i had a bag full of them, but now they're starting to head towards $20 in value i'll start picking out the best of them to 2x2.
I have a nice 1927 posted it a little while ago on the other forum. Think it is one and a half steps on it. From the other forum the general opinion was between a 64 and a 65.

This beauty tho may not be in my possession for long now I'll probably sell it at Petersham in November. Need the capital for the new business.
looks beautiful
Thanks RG

I would seriously consider getting that coin graded by PCGS before even thinking of selling it RAW Mate.
Yeah I was thinking of that Trout. Still a bit unsure on it but I'll have a think over it.
some of us still like to buy raw coins
bit old fashioned ... I know ....
