Title: Die clash 1925 shilling
Post by: robbiegal on September 07, 2014, 08:49:12 PM
I picked up this sweetie today
apparently this year has an overdate on the '5' (3 under 5 )
but anyways although I don't really collect the silvers nor can I see the over-date but I did spot the die clash and the little fella came home with Robbie
do other members have this error?

Nice die clash.
Does this date exist without the overdate ?

Echidna - I was told today that they are all over-dates
I didn't know that

and the back of his crown/head is between skippy and the shield
& I think a part of the collar of the cloak (against the lower part of the shield)

I have a cool 1917 halfpenny that is even better

Yes RG, Renniks Varieties has the 1925/3 as a standard.

I'm still loving the die clash though.

I must be blind or stupid.   I can see a huge die crack? but no clash.

Please highlight this in some way, (if possible).

Thanks

my hubby can't see the clash either goldie
and yes, I think it's either a die crack or a planchet flaw

I've left the white background on the layer so you can see how much rotation to align the images. About 7° I think.

Yeah. Easy too.

You can actually do this for any coin, provided you get the alignment right, in order to predict where clashes would likely show.

Goldie, I think you would be the last person whose comments in this thread would be considered dumb.

:agreed:

The only :dumb: question is the one not asked :ok:

There are only two types of dumb questions...

- Those not asked.
- Those just answered. As in:

"The time is 10:34"
            "What time is it?"

DOH!

Yours was neither. And anyway, any question someone asks, ten more people are thinking of, but don't actually ask.

I haven't seen many die clashes on 1925 Shillings for what it is worth. I have been eyeing one of Eric's for a while but haven't purchased a Shilling in ages due to collecting Ancient Macedonian Coins.
