Has anyone found one of the AIATSIS 50 cent circulation coins to be released (2 million mintage) into general circulation yet?
The RAM press release of July 3rd seemed to imply release during July: "Two million of these special circulating coins are to be distributed in the coming weeks."

If the bank hands me a $200 bag full of these, I would want to keep a few bags and maybe open a few bags to pick out the best examples.
I would probably also give away a few to friends here as well.
What should happen with the rest?
Nothing in South-East Queensland yet (or any other 2014 coins for that matter).
:laugh2: I'm still waiting for the rest of the 2013 coins to show here but I am in the middle of nowhere so northern NSW isn't much good but we take ages for the new coins to get here.
After Chubb look after their mates with rolls for resale we might see them circulated soon

Will start check Tas Noodling supplies later today....so far, no 2014 coins picked up in general circulation down in the Apple Isle so it's unlikely we'll find the first golden ticket down here.

Is the BIN price of $75 + postage a reasonable price for a bag ?
Early days. Mintage of this 50c is higher than the 2014 $1 (MOR) and those rolls are now going for about $60 each after selling at significantly higher prices in the first couple of weeks after they hit the market (mind you there does seem to be signs of a little upsurge in prices over the past week or so as the rolls available have slowed up).

The only 50c so far have been in bags I prefer the rolls and no doubt they will be on greedBay soon however I so wish I knew the secret of how certain people get their hands on Chubb rolls and resell ?
Do new coins show up more or less at the same branches every time? i.e. just a matter of identifying which bank and branch and check regularly? Or is it completely random?

True, but wouldn't the vast majority of AIATSIS 50 cents find their way into circulation despite the attention of collectors? Where as all the 2014 MOR dollars will remain uncirculated.

I have seen about 3 post from here and there of people who have found them in circulation, So they are starting to get out there but not in huge numbers
Not for me here in Western Suburbs of Melbourne but it was not for the lack of trying.
I tried the Acacia Ridge CBA during lunch break earlier in the week. Well to be honest I could have went there any old time really, ha, ha, anyhow back to the story. Yeah, the teller said they had a delivery the day before and had heaps. Only had $30 on me so three bags it was, one for each of my girls and one for yours truly. Went back the following day to clean up, not a single bag left. They sure disappeared in a hurry. :dash1:

My figures are similar to b_j_w_79's -a little over $6k searched for a total of 4 x AIATSIS. Often does take a long time before new issues show up here.
Yes my local shop has these now. I'm still trying to figure out if I should purchase a roll at $25 a roll. This isn't my key collecting area and am not sure of the value in it. Otherwise i can continue noddling and hopefull more will show up sooner, rather than later.

I got one a few days ago. I hope more turn up, as not being coloured they don't stand out to the average person. In the last week I have gotten many 20 Cent varieties other than Cent Fed State Coins.
Now that the 2014 coins are finally coming through here I have about 15 so far and as long as I have a couple I'm happy so if anyone would like one give me a cooee :good:
I haven't seen any in my loose change the location where these turn up is random.

I got my first Aiatsis 50 in change today here in Adelaide.
I've had a few more 2014 AIATSIS coins showing up in the last week in Western Sydney. This takes my count to 4 now.

I'm up to about 20 now and have two bags to search so hopefully a few more and one roll was good and didn't have to open it to see a lovely little incuse on the end so that was ok and hope to find more goodies, with a bit of luck from the coin god :)

These little fellers seem to be turning up at levels above what I would expect for a 2.0m mintage. May be just one of those quirks with their distribution.

or the hoarders are releasing them for a premium?

You could be right RG - there seem to be regular Ebay sales of individual coins in the $2 - 3 range so maybe people are cashing in on them.
I actually like the design so I am keeping mine tucked away.
