Title: Slabs
Post by: runway on July 08, 2014, 12:20:45 AM
Hi people I have a few decimal coins I want to slab
I have a few questions about who is the most trustworthy to send my coins to my concern is mainly about security I find it hard to mail out my coins and worry I will not get them back
I really not sure about that bloke from Port Macquarie APCGS ?
Walter seems ok but I don't know him
I'm at the point that I want to get some high grade decimals slabbed but don't know my best option
Can anyone guide me ?
Thanks in advance

PCGS has a list of authorised dealers in Australia. You can find it here:

Walter Eigner, Chris Buesnell, Eric Eigner, Andrew Crellin are the four largest with regards to pcgs in Australia, have dealt with all and never had any problems.

I had seven Mules and a couple of others slabbed earlier this year and I went for our mutual friend Walter in Canberra.

He is on this forum as wwwww.

you could always just join pcgs yourself and send them yourself
then there's no disputes about the coins

I have to admit that when I had pennies slabbed they looked very different on the return & I had even thought that my consigner had sent me a lovely penny as a gift - until I realised it was a coin that I had sent for slabbing!

so I wold understand if someone thought that their coins had been swapped!

That is a big statement.
Please provide evidence to support this.

I didn't exactly record conversations I've had with people.

Before I sent my coins up for slabbing I took high definition scans of the coins.

When they came back, I married everyone up with the scans.

Anyway, every coin in my collection, except circulated decimal coins, have been scanned into my computer at high definition.   If m y c9ollection gets stolen then the pictures can be circulated very quickly by the use of DVD's and hard drive distribution.

(May I say here that I mean no disrespect to wwwww and I trusted him completely throughout the whole deal).

A person who has the respect to assist others etc has my respect also.

I wasn't casting any aspersions upon you, proof27.
What I meant was how reliable was the information you were given?
Unfortunately there are a lot of people, even outside politics, who make up stories and some are coin collectors (and some coin dealers for that matter).

At work we have sent around 10,000 coins with value ranging from a few dollars to close to $20,000 and we have never had any go missing.

I agree with Peter on this, the odds of PCGS staff pinching the coins are about zero.
The postal staff however are a different kettle of fish, of 4 fleabay lots that went permanently AWOL for me this past year the USPS handled 3 of them.

Thanks everyone much appreciated

Postage from my end via Australia Post to a trusted slab dealer is the big concern about security

I only have one of these pages, they take both NGC and PCGS slabs nicely.
Anyone know where I can get some more from?

Here's where I got mine. Great seller, and cheap postage too.

You can keep 6 in one of these.

Thanks for the "Heads Up" :)
That is one of my favourite sellers :good:
I just bought the last 6 lots of these :)
I get all my 2x2's and a great deal of the new coins from this seller.
Very reliable.

I bought mine at 7.30 am and had tracking by 9am and feed back.
It normally takes a week for the stuff to get here But that is down to Aus post :ok:

Can I rave about that ebay seller too?

I brought my new capsules from that seller (that are amazing, if I must say so) and he didn't have them all in stock.  So he posted (next day bag) what he had to me and the rest came in the next couple of days (again, next day bag).

Will certainly keep using him - I was very impressed.  And his prices are the lowest that I could find in Australia for what I was buying.

I can say the same about this seller... I didn't end up buying it however his service was the best.. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for coin accessories...

I bought a couple of File holders to put these pages in.
The coins look great in the pages but I can only fit 54 slabs in each album.
A very bulky system, I may have to re-think this idea

I only have about 5 coins slabbed, but was thinking something like this to house them and future slabs.

That does look nice But you will still have to pull the slabs out to view the coins.
I am thinking of doing the K,I,S,S thing and simply use the blue boxes from PCGS and labelling them .
The only problem is the NGC slabs wont allow me to put the lid on the boxes :dash1:

80% of my collections are housed in PPH folders in saflips or 2x2's where I can view 20 coins per page the others are in Whitman or Dansco albums.

My eagerness with getting my coins slabbed has created a problem with storage and access for me.
The slab pages I bought DO look fantastic but one page is equivalent to 4 pages in a PPH album, 9 coins verses 80 coins in the same storage space.
