Well because this coin keeps coming up on various threads I will let you know the provenance of it as far as I know.
A couple of years ago I decided to forgo paying off credit card and buy some Gold coins.
I had already purchased a few sovereigns and saw the MS63 Ducat offered on the Purple Penny's site and thought it would be an amazing coin to add to my proclamation set.
My offer of $1100 was duly accepted (to my astonishment ) and the deal was done.
When it arrived I did what I usually did and cracked it out and looked at it "In Hand" , All I could think was " My Gods you are a beautiful coin" then I put in a 2x2 with the other proc coins.
As soon as PP and Mark got wind that I had "DE-slabbed " the coin I copped a huge bunch of flack and sent the bloody thing to PCGS to get a new coffin on it.
It came back "Details environmental damage" how the hell can a Gold coin be environmentally damaged stuck me as just being weird , So I organized to have the coin re graded through Eric Eigner, it came back as an MS65 coin.
This coin has been half way around the World 3 times that I know of and yet all the grades have been different on 3 occasions.
This is all irrelevant to me as I personally consider this coin to be an outstanding and beautiful piece and holds pride of place in my collections.
I just thought I would share the history of this coin as I know it. :)
Trout you need to add your NGC and PCGS prefix's so people can follow.
ex NGC MS63
ex PCGS genuine
now NGC MS65

Thanks PP I forgot about that
I had a nice 1788 ducat which PCGS thought was cleaned. Couldn't see it myself. Cracked it out and sold it raw.
