Title: Which proof set?
Post by: kchan1111 on June 12, 2014, 11:15:32 AM
There are three proof coin sets from RAM for 2014

2014 Proof Year Set - $130
https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/2014-Proof-Year-Set/210206.aspx

2014 Proof Wedding Set - $145
https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/2014-Proof-Wedding-Set/210214.aspx

2014 Proof Baby Set - $125
https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/2014-Proof-Baby-Set/210207.aspx

With the exception of the $1 which is selectively gold-plated in the first one all three have same coins right? So the price difference is just the packaging?

I have read many threads where people are breaking up a set. So the packaging has no value right? So no point getting the Wedding set??

My logic is wrong?
Thanks. :)

I got the Proof Mint set and the MOR ali bronze proof coin that was available  from Downies :ok:

Thanks trout.

I like the idea of collecting good quality. With the many different sets on offer it's not clear the best (cheapest) way to do it.

No matter which set you choose to get, The quality of the Australian Proof sets are pretty much always outstanding (unlike the Mint sets).
It is just annoying that most of the time you have to get two sets just to have the different proof coins for the year.
Kudos to Downies for making the effort and getting the MOR coin in a separate offering :good:
