Title: AUSTRALIA AT WAR
Post by: interest on May 21, 2014, 10:51:18 PM
Australia at war subscription Program.
18 coins spread over three years at $10 per coin (so far)
or a up front payment of $199.00
I'm going for it strong chance the fifty cents especially the coloured one's will go up in price over the next three years.
If my Father was still alive I would have bought it for him.
Comes in a nice folder.

I guess for any fifty cent collectors this is a must.

Any other takers on this????

I thought about some of them in Brissie as the Ram had quite a few different coins there and the 50's on the little cards were $10 I think

Understand how easy it would be. Bloody stupid way of inserting cards I think.
I was showing a lady friend ,& you know how people gotta touch, gotta feel. I thought she was going to tear it so I took it off her.
Didn't want her tearing it.

Bit late to the thread.

After seeing the second release and the Boer War one. I think I am going to get this. Question though... Is the Folder really worth it? I can get all 18 coins for $180. $20 for the packaging seems well a bit much.

A more general question - does having a complete packaging for sets important in the value of the set over time?

I still have not heard back about a replacement folder for the one I tore. I am going to have to call again and investigate I think.

I take it that the answer is yes - packaging worth a lot. :)

RAM website fail....

If you go order it online, at the checkout it forces you to select either receipt delivery for $8 or registered delivery for $12. So if you do this online you are being overcharged $8. I called RAM and was told this is not supposed to happen.

Yeah I am tossing up whether or not to get the coins individually as they come out from shops. Or subscribe to get the folder. Wondering if having all the packaging would be important if I sell it in the future.

My new Australians at War coins should arrive today.
I had a good look at the reverse image of the "Western Front" coin and it seems the designers have gotten a wee bit Lazy.
Notice the Australian and German soldiers are the same person replicated 3 times.
I'll take a pic of the coin when it arrives and zoom in on the faces of the soldiers and post the images.

Does that really matter.   it is the "meaning" that counts.

They are still stunning coins.

Just checked the receipt from RAM for my subscription.

It listed *all* of the coins in the program.......

Well that certainly ruins the mystery a bit :dodgy:

Just got an email saying mine is on its way. Very slow. You would think that those signed up for program will get it before or at least round about time they appear in shops. After all, we are giving a $200 3 year interest free loan to the RAM! :D

I really can't explain why both RAM and AP seem to have delayed orders from customers,it is becoming all too common

Sorry about reviving an older thread, but I noticed that the Poziere and Fromelle issues have a lower mintage of only 15 000 each, rather than the published 50 000 for the others in the series. Wonder if the interest has not been enough to sustain a 50 000 mintage? This will make them a scarcer 50c issue for those trying to complete a 50c set.

I don't think that these are a part of the original set.

The Poziere and Fromelle issues are in different packaging and a completely different set. This set is suppose to have 6 coins over 3 years I had read somewhere.

Thanks for clearing that up. 15 000 still seems like a small mintage in this day and age of overabundance
