Ok just wondering where people get there world coins from??
Most of mine I find while noodling and some I get from me old mate at the markets but wouldn't mind getting a bulk lot if the post and that isn't to bad
Hey AJ,
I am not a big fan of world coins, saying that I have a few Sri Lankan ( English colony before 1947), NZ ( I call them part of Australia ;-) ) and some US $ UK coins... It really depends on what coins and what quality you want. I buy most of mine at mint Gem UNC level/ PCGS graded coins... However if you want bulk lots I am sure you van get some from eBay. ( there are some good sellers ) if not there are websites.. Also you can always keep an eye out for Walters coin auction or Chirs ( Pacific rim) auction... They have some good stuff...
I have a few album pages of world coin here AJ
not sure of the weight but maybe (well?) under 3 kilos
mates' rates would be fine
I usually get mine from lots that I buy at auction but I don't collect them
then after a while I list them on ebay
they are surprisingly popular - even at auctions
we can talk via pm
Most of mine have, historically, come from bulk lots. Some of those bulk lots I bought from Roxbury's auctions; I also bought a 10kg German Bank bag from a local dealer. I'm also "the coin guy" for a missionary charity that primarily handles donated stamp collections.
I buy coin lots from local dealers, but most of my coins have come from trades with friends from many different countries.
I get bulk lots from deceased estates
I would have about 100 kg of international junk
out of that I have got a few good coins, the fun is in the noodling :)
Thanks heaps team :good: will PM you soon RG :friends:
Still trying to work out what I want to collect so I'll just keep collecting anything and everything for now, yeah sad I know but you should see me shopping where I have many choices, yep I'm hopeless :winkextra:
I'm slowly building up my collection and getting close to having a few things finished Like I only need an 06 wedding set and they are done but I still buy them if I can pick them up cheap and I have mint sets from 85 on, so only missing the dear ones so 93, 95 (getting off pp in next order :yahoo: 97, 2001 gee I thought I had one but it's not in the pile so one of them might have to go on the next order as well, 10, 11 and 14 :) I also have a few doubles of them so I might crack a couple soon :)

I wonder what you consider a good coin.
To me a good coin is any that I don't already have. :)
wow trigger, that attitude is a recipe for disaster! ;) imho a good coin is one with a book value over $50 or made of silver/gold
as it is I have already filled the house with boxes of coins that are not really worth that much and the missus is wanting me to clear some stuff out but I don't want to let go of them.
they are my "PrecioussssS" :)
hide the boxes under the beds
in the back of the clothes cupboard
under tables with tablecloths
I have become very ermm , creative in my closet collecting!! ha ha
Jesus RG you collect closets as well, where do you put it all mate :winkextra:

I just think they all deserve a good home. If a coin is ugly and I don't have it, then it has a home, at least until a better one comes along.

Yep I do the same thing Steve and you wouldn't think some are actually coins but I still like them and AC even called some hockey pucks :laugh2:

some of my coins look like they may have been hockey pucks in a past life, but I love them all. :)
hi AJ
only managed to dig up a bit over a kilo of worlds
thought that I have more - in fact I am certain that I do but couldn't find them last night
the ones that the hubby & I put together for you, last night anyways, are now in an aussie posts snail mail red and white sleigh
hopefully we will still own aussie post by he time you get them!! ha ha
treat ém kind xx robbie
I sold some and gave some away. Did you want some AJ?
develop a relationship with your local banks. when they get them they collect them up and usually throw them in the bin. I now have several branches that hold them for me and I pick them up every once in a while. get about a kilo a week
yeah he is after some Lacey
I thought that I had more as I store them into (archival) bags together from my auction lots
though a kilo or so is a good starting point - might have some aussie stuff in there though, guess that pre-decimal is 'world'(**giggle** - according to PCGS it is!)
and Serial has 100 kilos of them as well, not sure if Serial is selling though

I am actually a bit of a serial hoarder. I thought about auctioning half kilo or kilo lots but I thought it wasn't really worth it on ebay
what do you get for a kilo?
are u in wa AJ?
Serial, I think they go for about $15 to $20 per kilo. :)
just for ordinary international coins?!?!
is that plus postage? because I can imagine that would be a killer!
Yes, postage on top of that. :)
well I can do it for $15 a kilo

When in Wagga this week I needed to do some banking. So I asked the usual question and was shown a bundle of about $500 face value of paper notes. Nearly all poor condition and no sought after signature combinations -I suspect they had been picked through before.
However I walked out with 5 x paper $5 consecutive serials, $13.43 of 1¢, $1.36 of 2¢ and a round 50¢. Total cost of $40.
They told me they never send back "trade ins". I will make a point of visiting there every time I visit Wagga.
I also picked up an AA 08 $10 note and 2014 5¢ (my first) in change from shopping.
And 10kg of new season cherries from Young on the way home this afternoon for $35!
What a great trip Jeff!!!!
Gee the cherries seem a great price!
gee Jeff - if you'd dropped by my place I still have about 3 kilos of cherries in the fridge
everyone has topped eating them
I even made up a few jars of jam with the this year
home? you must live somewhere out the way
my hubby was originally from Harden , his grannie still lives there - 93 and not out
Well; this is most unusual.
I sorted the 2¢ coins last night and 55 of the 78 coins are 1968! That includes 2 "no SD" (and another two that the SD is so faint I can only make out the faintest trace under the microscope). Most are in rather good condition.
Also 3 clips. I will have to study those closely, maybe seek some advice in the forum, to be sure they aren't PMD.
Wow Jeff, you certainly timed getting someone's keepers at the bank.
(The odds are too high to be anything else!!!!).
Looking forward to some pics!
