Have been doing a little more work on 20c wave gaps beside the platypus head.
In addition to the 1966, 2008, 2012 and 2013 that have been discussed previously there are some other years where gaps look to exist (still trying to get better photos).
1981
1999 - have found several that seem to have a small gap
2000
2005 - quite a large gap on this one. Photo below.

Are there other years out there where wave gaps have been found?

Experiment with the wife's camera was a flop. Couldn't get the level of detail that I wanted. Will have to try and see if my son's camera does a better job.
Have used the USB gizmo for some more shots but still not there for desired quality:

I have quite a few 2008 gaps, I only keep the obvious gap ones which are clear to the naked eye, usually about 1-2mm having said that I have never actually measured the "gap"

I'm still of the opinion that small gaps are simply light strikes. Not sure about big gaps yet, nor have I seen any explanations for them.

Hi Pedro
How many 1981 20 cents have you got?
I would like you to do a little bit of research if you would not mind.
Thanks in advance.
Do you mean with the wave gap, Interest? If so, only the one.

I was just hoping that maybe you could have helped me with this, I have been working on for a while.
1981 3.5 claws (http://www.australian-coins.net/showthread.php?tid=114&page=3)
Tyring to prove once & for all that all 3.5 claws have this same broken line.
Just need as much confirmation as I can get.
Cheers

Nah, still checking, thought some new eyes & some very good close ups could only be a good thing.
I do have a few 3 1/2 claws Interest so I will have a look - will take a little while as I have to find the little blighters!

Geez Pedro, you've got more gaps than Chad Morgan!!!
Oh what a picture that conjures up Uni :laugh2:
Ya can't have too many gaps!
Pedro
2008 20c wave gap is the wave towards platypus eye ... whether it is joined to platypus on falls short.... that is my understanding of the 2008 wave gap
