Title: Noodling Finds
Post by: Pedro on November 04, 2012, 02:09:20 PM
Couldn't see a general noodling thread so here we go.

Gathered up a collection of unwanted coins and took them to the bank and swapped them mainly for $5 notes - first time I have noodled from the bank (previously have just been going through loose change).

Managed to come up with:

HB 06 (fine)
HB 07 (fine)
FB 07 234234 (gEF)

Also went through loose change from shopping for:

1973 50c
2005 $1 (five kangaroos)

Overall, a modest addition to the collection.

I think you may have opened a flood gate with this thread.
Every collector eyeballs their change and quite a few collectors actively draw coins from the bank just to hunt through them.
I have done it but it burns my eyes out.
it is a fantastic way to find coins for a collection and more power to the people that have the time and patience to do it
:yahoo:
I realy enjoy seeing what people can find in their change,
Can't wait for the responses here :good:

I had a look through a family member's change yesterday. As I was emptying the purse though I noticed an out of place colour, which turned out to be a Fraser/Cole $5 note.

I looked through two bags of 50c pieces too yesterday and found two 1993 50c pieces.

Yeah I was pretty happy. The last time I found a Fraser/Cole $5 note I though I'd be lucky to find ever find one in circulation again.

You find a rotated 20c in a few coins and I can't find one in searching over 20,000 of the little blighters.

I can't say exactly how many 20c coins Jeff has noodled, but it's a LOT!

I estimate I look at in excess of 120,000 20¢ coins per year.
Now, how many $1 coins has goldy looked at to find his big stash of rotated 2001?

Sorted out my accumulated, from change, 5¢ container this week. I'm sick of looking at "SD"s to pick the sizes!

Anyway, did turn up a respectable 1972 with some residual brilliance.

Nice one Jeff :good:
I have found 3 of these in my change and the only thing remarkable about them is the date :laugh2:
