I received this coin last week. It is a KM#99 from Mozambique. One Metical 1980 and mintage only 32000. It got me thinking, what is the lowest mintage circulating (or circulated) coin?
Let's see what you have or just let me know what is out there. :)

Sorry for going of topic Steve but what is the KM# for, is this your own code? And that's a really good question and sorry I can't answer but I'll through another spanner in the works and ask if error coins come into this as I have a few that I haven't seen anyone else post pic's of like my MOR with the two dots between the roos paws..yep there's one in every croud mate :)
KM# is the Krause Michler Number from the Standard World Coin Catalogue.
Not looking for errors here, AJ, just normal circulation coins.
:ok: and thanks, must get me self a KM :)
Just went through my spreadsheet and found these...

The only thing is, I can't verify if they are circulation only coins.
Nothing mentioned in the catalogue.

Very handy tool for the world coin collector.
I must admit I went many years without it.
There are some good online catalogues.
I have looked at your gallery a few times now and gee you have some bloody nice coins mate and just love your nice clear pic's :good: wish mine were as good :( But back on to topic, some of the pre-deciaml proofs are very low

Looks like some of the English Maundy money has low mintages but I guess that is not really meant to circulate. Our 1923 half Penny has a low mintage, but I don't own one. Any one have a pic of this coin?
all good Kel, be really good to see you and Dawn mate :friends:
Yeah a few would Steve but gettin them to post pic's are just about as hard as finding one..but i found this one in the gallery :)

Fiji has some very low mintage coins.
This one is 20000 I believe.

Fiji certainly had a lot of rather low mintage years with pre-decimal (40,000 or less).
1938 florin was only 20,000 too. I don't have a '38 florin (now one of very few gaps in my set) to show you so here is next best at 24,000.

Nice coins everyone. Thanks for sharing.
I wonder if Nancy has that bird coin (Fiji 1941 Florin).
I think Nancy might just have a few Fiji florins with that shield on.

Another low mintage coin is the Fiji 1940 Halfpenny, 24000.
I nominate (Australian) 1985 20¢. I have found quite a few 1966 wavey 3 over the years but only ever one 1985 20¢.

Possibly a refugee from a mint set,
Some of the ZAR coinage from 1892 to 1900 has very small mintages. This is one of two 1892 half crowns that I own. Total mintage was 16,000.

Hm, with stats like that I'm not surprised I haven't found one yet.

1908 Perth half sovereign mintage was 24668.
Very few left and almost none in top grade.
If you can find a nice one just buy it.
