I'm somewhat confused. I couldn't see any carp or any other fish for that matter.
theses smell a bit fishy to me :dodgy: http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/m.html?_odkw=&item=321341407122&pt=AU_Coins2&_osacat=0&hash=item4ad170bf92&_ssn=2010bankstarman&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xuniface+coins&_nkw=uniface+coins&_sacat=0&_from=R40

I think it might just be Jeff's polite way of saying 'crap' or it's a typo.
Bingo Nancy! A deliberate typo.

Regardless of how you typed it Mate , We all knew what you were alluding to :)
Franklin and Bradford no thanks
You'll notice that every single one of those "coin collections" on the Franklin Mint website are made by someone other than Franklin Mint. They so tarnished their own name that they stopped "minting" coins or anything else some time ago. Then they went bust and the brand name was bought and sold a few times before being revived. They're just a coin marketing company now.

Others? There's a whole planetful of 'em out there. Here are some of the bigger ones; I won't dignify them with linkification, but you can Google them if you are curious.
Macquarie Mint (Aus)
Westminster Collection (GB)
London Mint Office (GB)
GovMint.com and the other front-companies of the Asset Marketing Services Inc. coin empire. (USA)
They all have much the same modus operandi, wherever you go. Their target markets are the non-coin-collectors, because actual coin collectors usually know better than to fall for this kind of banality. This is why they advertise in newspapers and trashy gossip magazines but not in coin magazines and why they fill the mailboxes of "selected households" with junk mail rather than spend the same amount of money attending a booth at a coin show. They also prefer customers who are timid, the kind who don't like to make a fuss and/or don't like to admit they've been sucked into a bad deal. Such people can be kept on a mailing list and bombed with more and more overpriced coins that get charged to their credit card, whether they want more coins or not.

Fortunately all the potential victims I know
(and there have been many) at least have had the sense to ask me before handing over their firstborn. Whereupon they get a rundown of exactly what these scumbags are, and how to spot the telltale signs.

At first I really was looking for fish.
I saw some fish at Freo on Sunday but no trout.

Trout was at Meekatharra on Sunday :(

Odd spot for a decent fishing hole, I would have thought... ;)
Here is another one. I have never seen this place before but they seem to follow the pattern.
Great War Collectables (http://www.militaryshop.com.au/features/gw.html)
A (presumably) bronze disk with a drsign on it, similar size to a penny (and "antique copper" finish) is not, and never will be, a penny.
And "Great War 1914-1918 Stubby Cooler"! Bet they were a big hit at Fromelles.
While I agree that the Westminster Collection (GB) does sell over priced stuff and get folks tied to coins on subscription but they are useful to purchase some coins that they offer at face value to get you on their mailing list.
I have purchased several UK £5 coins for face value from them rather than paying over double the price to get them from the UK Royal Mint.
They have done it again. Gold-tone watch casing & genuine leather strap. With ( faux leather) gift box. (https://www.bradford.com.au/1930-australian-penny-replica-watch.html)
Their newspaper advertisement says "so realistic only you will know the truth". What "truth" would that be? Oh, I see, just another piece of crap.
A steal at $200. Put me down for none of them.
The effigy of the queen looks dreadful on this:

At least these folks design their coin carp. Some stuff is just a repackaging with a mark-up.

Have a friend who worked for Bradford for a long time doing all their artwork for all the magazines.
A lot of the stuff they sell they do not order until they have reached a target.
Particular themes are very popular, Diana, the Queen & our very own Ned Kelly oh & along with Elvis.
They make a fortune on the stuff, have it made to order with huge markup,
I used to rib him a lot about some of the stuff they sell,
sometimes he would include in the artwork a little something that didn't belong there.
He got me some Quarters there were selling in plastic mounts (at no cost) they were selling about $14.99 each impressive, NOT!
A girl I worked with bought a Peter Rabbit cup & saucer set for her niece, the art work looked great clear & distinct faces, then she got the set, the faces had all the colours running into each other, just a mess, she even went to the warehouse to find a good set but that was impossible.
So they will except returns if not completely satisfied
