Title: 1927 sixpence variety
Post by: Steveqld on February 16, 2014, 03:15:47 PM
Moved on from my 1926 sixpence to the 1927 sixpence.  Renniks Pre-decimal varieties lists a few varieties for the reverse of this coin but none for the obverse.  Coin isn't in bad nick but the missing parts make it "ugly"

The one's I picked up are:
The die crack through G.
The cud where the eyebrow should be
Bridge of the nose missing; and
the missing portion at the back of the crown.

I notice the neck appears to be missing but it is faintly visible on the original.

They don't seem like tie fill or struck through grease to me but the die must have been full of something.

Very surprised that there has been zero remarks on this coin, in my humble opinion a stunning error coin that displays several highlights and is in exceptional condition.!!
Rather than being 'ugly' I consider this as a remarkable find.!! :yahoo:
