Silver is in a downtrend at the moment and the only thing that is keeping the price alive is the "Paper Silver" trades.
Be prepared to hang onto it for quite a while because I cannot see the PM market doing much for a long time.
I sold quite a few kilos when the price hit $48 and don't regret doing it :)
It is however quite a good opportunity to buy bulk silver lots to noodle :ok:
You do however have to be prepared to "Take a Hit" on the dregs or hold them and sweat about the spot prices.
I have in the past pulled some stunning coins out of bulk lots but it is hit and miss affair and getting harder as time goes by.
I would go to say that precious metals will be taking a little while longer to come up than before. Generally PM increase during uncertain economic times and decrease during increasingly better ones. It is more to minimize risk from devaluation of currency through inflation or the lack of economic growth.
With Europe and America's economic improvement gaining traction it has placed downward pressure on the precious metal prices and since the American central bank has stopped manipulating gold prices to increase consumption of currency. So PM prices may remain subdued for a little while until there is uncertainty in a major economy or there is a new demand for gold bullion from an up and coming economy most likely China tho it may be subdued due to the Chinese government manipulating the currency practically fixing the inflation of the currency to other major ones. (Has happened previously particularly in India where the demand on imported gold got so high where the government had to impose quotas on gold imports due to so much money flowing out of the economy.)

I was half expecting a /sarc tag at the end.
There is little evidence that either Europe or the US economies are rebounding. Over 100,000 "homes" in America are for sale at $1 each, unemployment is over 30% in parts of Europe and deficit spending can only paper the cracks for so long.
China is in economically interesting times (look at their coal industry for a real view behind the curtain, their biggest coal miners are in deep trouble, not good for our coal or iron ore industries).
Gold demand exceeds supply, once the ETFs run out then prices will have to rise (ETFs provided 500 tons to meet demand in just 12 months and at that rate will have none next year).
The demand in India is now being met by smuggling, it wasn't gold demand that caused money to flow out but the massive debt bubble in India boosting the demand for a traditional safe haven (gold). The Rupee is sick and devaluing and gold is a great hedge with no counterparty issues. Silver will ride along with gold (and yes I stack both).
A place for discussions on silver bullion.

Awesome :)
I would think the Best Silver bullion to stack would be old well circulated coins, These are quite easily obtainable at Melt value :good:
there is no real danger of doing them any damage by handling them and they are of a "Known" Silver Content.
Also they are FAR more interesting and fun than silver bars or most of the unrealistically priced coin offerings from the various mints Worldwide :ok:

Sorry kinda went of topic with speculation of the pm prices. Anyway silver wise have a number of decent florins three or so less than the complete run by date and mint nothing really mentioning tho. More a collector than stacker

Even better when you get old shillings/florins etc at below melt and find a few scarce dates or chUnc coins. Old coins make up 99% of my silver stack.
I imagine that most of us have a silver "Scrap Bin" that we put coins that are unworthy of adding to our various collections.
I have a few harshly cleaned ones in mine (one of which is a Peter Wallace coin) and various other silver coins from various countries that are badly worn or bent.
This sort of thing

Yup. Not just silver either. I do exactly the same with all that green copper I don't want anywhere near my collection.
With the two lots of 1966 50c pieces to arrive, it will nudge my holdings in these to 542 which means 180oz of silver. Further mI have two jars of pre decimal silver and whether or not is melt for silver or sell a coin at a time would fetch several thousands of dollars. My gold holdings is in excess of 26 ozs. All for future use to help wifey and I survive.
The sooner PM prices sart to rise I shall become a very happy chappy.
If I sell the pre decimal coins as individual coins, then according to Gregs Mac's catalogue, I have around $5,400 and that is using the lowest of Greg's prices. But in reality, they will only give me what people are prepared to pay.

Nice stash Goldie
The only gold I can hold has to be coins because of the nature of the business in am in.
I reline ball and sag mills for a living and many of them are on gold mines.
I see nuggets and chunks of gold on a regular basis but NONE of it is mine.
To have these in my possession would be a conflict of interest and I stay well away from that part of stacking.
Anyway the sovereigns and gold proc coins are way more beautiful than those bashed and battered nuggets found in a mill any day :ok:
WELL well Silver is up about 5%, see if it keeps up
