And for me its more than just a one hit wonder
NO BBQ for me today. Like half the population of Aus, I had to go to work today.
Lamb in the Weber tomorrow. Happy Aussie day everyone.
Happy Australia Day everyone!
I am very thankful to have been born here, and hope that things I do make this country a little bit better.
Happy australian day hope you all had a good day.
Happy Australia Day to all.
Well I had a good aussie BBQ with my family anyway and enjoyed it.
:yahoo:
Watched the cricket, great result for the Aussies.!!! :yahoo:
Been to an Australian Day barbie today where there was an Italian, a Scot, an American, three Chileans one Kiwi & a bunch of Aussie's oops, & one German.
Don't mention the war.
Got drunk, sobered up then got drunk again. Played cricket out on the street (cul de sac) removed some bark off my knee,
ate some sausages that didn't taste like any sausage I've had before,
But hey,, that's Australia Day.

Sounds like a typical mix at an Aussie Booze up :good:
Australia day has NOTHING to do with where you are born.
Its ALL about Celebrating Being an Australian :yahoo:
Had lunch at the club went into the city rode on an old double decker bus around town,
Then we walked around the city Chinatown,Darling Harbour back to Parramatta Park for the concert and fireworks finale

The bus we rode on I'm sure it will bring back memories to the older members

You Must have had a Pretty good day because it looks like you were lying on the footpath when you took that pic :diablo::laugh2:
I used to drive one of them d/d ex Sydney buses around Brisbane , when I was younger .
we would give children from our house of happiness home on bribie island free transport from Brisbane to the home and back to Brisbane after they had a 2 week holiday at the house of happiness .
it was a club called ,, crippled children and orphan club .,,
and it catered for children in homes ,and orphanage,s ,and children that could not walk or talk or had some dissadvantage,s .

Wonderful story Kel, a credit to you and the organisation.! My sister has been involved in "special needs' kids for over 40 years and was awarded an "O.A.M.' a few years ago.! Her dedication is an inspiration one and all.!!
That was a much nicer story Kel. All credit to you and your associates.
I wasn't very 'patriotic' on Australia day. Didn't have a barbie, didn't get drunk (but had a couple of beers and a Scotch in the evening), didn't wrap myself in a flag and didn't play backyard/street cricket.
I did spend some time booking airfares, accommodation, transfers etc. for a forthcoming trip to Fiji.
What a miserable bastard I am.
That is the wonderful thing about living in Australian Jeff, we can choose to do or not do as we please.! I am happy to be an "Aussie" every day of the year.!! "Safe Travels". :good: "Bula Bula".

There was a Bus Conductor who rode on all the D/Deckers,
would come around & collect fares & tear off a ticket that you had to hold onto until you "alighted" from the bus.
Because ticket inspectors would sometimes get on busses where you would have to show your ticket & he would punch a little hole in it, if you didn't have a ticket you were in trouble, unless you could prove that the bus conductor had not gotten to you yet.
aaah the good old days.
same with our trams , when they went off and buses took over then we had to drive and sell tickets too ,
worse thing happened to me was when I was doing a school run and had to carry 80 / 100 kids ,so we would tear off about 80 tickets and punch the hole in them all together to save time , got to the school one Friday and did that then found the kids had only did half a day and went home early at lunch time .. ,, kel ,,
