Finding a dinkum 1930 penny on ebay is harder to find than the winning lotto numbers :ok:
NO way would anyone do a 99 cent listing on a genuine coin :dash1:

Lol ...... their additional notes (added in the last hour) are interesting, obviously they're getting a hammering .....

PS: The 9 is enough to say fake.

I have joined the flood of message senders.
Here is what I said;
Have you showed it to any reputable coin dealers?
What did they say"
It doesn't cost much to get a certificate of authenticity and a genuine 1930 penny in the condition your not very good photos suggest would be worth tens of thousands of dollars.
If it is genuine eBay is the worst place to sell it -a reputable coin auction is way superior for a good coin.
If it is not genuine then (as of right now) some person has  bid $2,219.49 more than I paid recently for some Chinese copies (including postage from Hong Kong)."

I suspect the listing is genuine but the person was too ignorant to seek advice about one of (if not the most) famous Australian coins.

Check out the message he has left for everyone - he is grumpy because people want to be sure before they spend $20K.

I read his speil and the following is what I have to him:

"If as you say you have received 200+ emails re this coin and I know many of them are informing you that the coin is a fake, why don't you remove the coin, end the auction and get the coin looked at by a professional.   I own two CERTIFIED 1930 Pennies and I hate to say it, your is nota true 1930 Penny but one that was brought into Australia from China and sold to fill gaps in collections.   Sorry to add to the number of emails but you have to be told".

THIS PERSON IS GIVING OUR HOBBY A BAD NAME
Please read:
Since listing this coin I have received over 200 emails. I have tried to answer them all honestly, but enough is enough.
Firstly, I know nothing about this coin. I don't know what it weighs, where it came from, it has no COA etc etc.
I listed the coin at 99 cents, gave 5 good scans and told you to form your own opinion, not send me 200 emails with yours!
if you wish to bid to own this coin please feel free. If you have already bid and feel unsure, retract your bid. I really dont care.
To all the " Eddie the experts " if you still feel the burning desire to write a email, please direct your energy to your local member of parliament to complain about the roads, education, hospitals or whatever else you wish to complain about and let the listing run it's course.

That rant is like a RED flag to a bull!

Here's my advice to him:

"200 "Eddie the Experts", eh?

Let me guess, they're all telling you its a fake, right?

Because it clearly is. These chinese fakes are "not quite right" and Blind Freddy can spot the difference.

If I were in your shoes, I'd pull the listing immediately. Because whether its a copy and you rip someone off two grand plus, or its real and you rob yourself of thirty grand, neither is a happy outcome.

Oh, and I'd also bet that having publicly stated you've had 200 warnings, if you continue and it is a fake, you're leaving yourself open for fraud charges. Think about that."

What we really need is a POLICING TOPIC with links to the coin so that WE ALL can flood the blokes email address with comments and a link to EBay so that they know what is going on.   I know, EBay will not do anything but one might never know.......

Good work for the first spotting the coin and to those that told this bloke "I told you so".

Just happened across this one

ebay 1930 penny (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1930-Australian-Penny-this-is-the-one-you-need-/161204446640?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item258888a5b0&_uhb=1)

Similarly dodgy looking date.

I am tempted to use the "make an offer".

$0.01 would be a good amount.

It wouldn't let me offer $0.01. I had to offer a whole dollar.

you gotta admit "Eddie the experts" that these "replicas" are looking more & more like the real thing.
It's my belief that in a few years or so a lot of people are going to be stung with these things.
You might not be able to tell the difference in a few years.

Same seller,he not too bright saying.... Australian 1966 Proof set. These sets are getting very hard to get, especially in this condition. Every year they grow in value

I completely agree with interest I was at the markets the other day and a guy tried to offer a 1930 penny fake to me for $800 dollars we walked away and mum said "so would you like that one with the money you have earnt working" I replied mum its fake and its so obvious. " I went back and said no point trying to rip a young fulla off when hes educated enough to know clearly that's fake and walked away..
