that is one heck of an ikkie 1928 halfpenny
Don't like the look of the 1923 coin and a few others less than average. At that
price I would steer clear
its rubbish

Is that '28 a typo for '23 (or not:dodgy:)
nope
it's not a typo
it looks like a 28 to me
It does look like it could be a 1923 but you'd have to be nuts to
invest in something that chewed up
I think it's an 8
here's my contrast experiment

If that is an 8 then he is one dodgy seller

For the first time today I agree with Purple Pussy.
My first thought when seeing that listing was "why is the seller photographing a verdigris ridden 1928?"
rustybrill eBay seller is a grub full stop !!!
Deliberate upsizing a common halfpenny set with a suspect 1923 in item description....
the set went in unsold after a 7 day auction on the 8th Dec
so at least not too many have been fooled by the blurry photos
although, it does perplex me somewhat
there is often a stampede when a rare date is listed, even when it looks noticeably poor or fake
I guess there is a lot to be said for shill bidding auctions by perhaps, even more dodgy sellers
the seller here claims to have purchased a 1923 halfpenny, and he may well have - just might not be the coin pictured!
Yeah, nothing much changes over the years particulary with 1923 halves, when i was at School in the 1960's they had 1923's advertised with a dealers certificate of authenticity, the certificate were genuine, just not for the coin being sold. The Coin/Stamp dealer that used to talk to us one period a Week always said the majority of 1923's he sees are fakes, some were "very clever & hard to detect" and would be still be out there somewhere.
