During my detecting days, I found several early UK coins. Two of them are the size of an old English Penny with a outline of a very warn King facing to the right and in 180 degree upset to the seated Rule Britannia facing to the left.
The edge of both coins are reeded at an angle of around 45 degrees.
Further, I have another English(?) coin, the size of a halfpenny with a seated Britannia facing to the right with roses/flowers immediately beneath the seated Britannia.
I would post scans but the coins are quite worn and the detail would be appalling.
Any ideas please?
The penny sized coin could be a George III half penny of the 1770's. I think they had diagonal edge milling. See here: http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/pics/g3/ha/index.html
The half penny sounds like it might be William IV. See here: http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/pics/w4/ha/index.html
Thanks for that.
