Title: AJ's BS or not list
Post by: ausjack on December 04, 2013, 06:27:45 AM
:dodgy: ok I'm starting my own BS list and here's the first that I found on feebay suss this for BS http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1990-SLABBED-FIFTY-CENT-COAT-OF-ARMS-MS62-COIN/181274222048?_trksid=p2046732.m2060&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D3143631618518057412%26pid%3D100040%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D321264183862%26#ht_1104wt_958

I highly doubt that he has set himself up as a TPG
He probably bought them off someone else and as is

A lot of collectors use that Sheldon grading system and label accordingly to their opinion but I know that this seller doesn't know how to use that or other grading systems , so i'd reckon that these are someone else's' set-up that he has acquired and is selling on

I could be wrong too

anyone can buy those holders - they have been on the market for years

I have bought off this seller and haven't had any dramas :ok:
However the $36 valuation is BS, "Blue Sheet" has this at $30 for a MS67 coin .

I know this seller, the coin is good, just been put in a slab by someone.
he wouldn't intentionally rip someone off he is too nice for that.
yeah I don't think he is into grading coins, so this is news to me

The 5¢ looks like a very soft strike. Either a thin planchet or while they were setting up the press.

The $1 is probably damaged by the robot that assembles the sets. Damage on opposite sides would suggest it was crushed by too high a pressure.

So OK, both descriptions are crap. And the set is not worth a premium. But other than that, there's nothing dodgy going on here.

Hrm.... I'd put the 3d and the 5¢ in the same basket for desirability. I'd give both a home if I found them, but I wouldn't buy either one in their condition.

Well, yeah, they're real slabs. As in they're the same bits of plastic from the same machine. But that's not what slabbing is about, is it? Its all about the grading certification, and he bit that makes that is the number they give it. Wouldn't matter if it was wrapped in dunny paper, it would still be the same certified coin.

Whereas this one, well, its never been anywhere near a grading company, so its just a random coin in a fancy 2x2 that doesn't fit in album pages. :P

Not that there's anything wrong with protecting a coin in a hefty and expensive mount, mind you. But the intent is clearly to deceive the unwary, and that sucks.

BS drivers give me the willies as I just had to have a scan done on my back so all good until coming home and this silly umm person decides that my blinker doesn't matter so pull out of a give way in front so I lock up and slid sidways as the little utes tend to do with no weight in the back so had a few nice words to say but just oh so lucky :winkextra:

jesus, I'm not a happy camper as I just sussed my lotto tickets thatI just bought for the big one next year and they gave me the weekend draw, customer service just doesn't exist any more except for good people like PP  Fairdink they wonder why I go off and things get broken and people get hurt :@

and not forgetting I have to do about 10km trip to get it fixed up, I think a lot is just to piss us off and use more fuel and that goes the same as all these bloody road works that are causing that many accidents and road rage it's not funny as people are sick of it as a lot up this way have been going on from before my brain op and that's 10 years next year..why can't they see what they are doing, or do they see and don't care as it's not their families getting killed up here, just ask Kel what it's like as there's hundreds and hundreds of km's where your lucky to do 40km/h and don't get me strated about the lazy so and so's standing around doing nothing and getting paid bloody good money to do so and as for the traffic controllers, mate say no mare what a useless buch of tukey's they are where they can't even use a stop go battern any more, gee what has happened to our once great australia :(

Mate, I was coming back from Phil's the other day, and this idiot in a black 4WD backed out of a driveway on my left, 3/4 of the way across the road. pulled over to the left, then as I got there (at 100km/h) did a U-turn in front of me without indicating!

I locked everything up, figuring I'd be better off hitting him side-on, and luckily he looked over his shoulder and stopped. Reckon I took the paint off his bullbar as I went past.

Not sure who had the brownest undies... me or the guy coming the other way. For sure it would have gotten messy if he hadn't been paying attention.... 200 km/h 3-way head-on! :(

I blame the bloody wankers at the RTA, TAC, the pollies and cops for their carrying on about speed instead of actually teaching people to drive. And of course it has nothing to do with all that loot from speed camera fines, does it? HAH! :dodgy:

The easiest way is to grab a regular $5o for comparison, look at the red vertical lines above the large 50 in the top right then look below the Serial No on the bottom right of the note.  The difference should stand out like t**s on a bull.:winkextra:

I'd say it's an off centre cut.  The print would have been OK, just the cutting up of the sheet went a bit wonky. There's probably a lot more just like it.

Dunno about a lot, but more than one or two, definitely. If one sheet is out of whack, every note on it will be miscut. And there may well be a number of sheets in the stack that are off by little amounts.

Personally, I think the miscut has to be severe enough for some feature to be entirely missing to have any significant value. Less than that and its more an oddity than anything.

AJ, this was one I sold back in Aug 2012 ..... $12.05

Not sure how they worked out that they are scarcer than an incused?
I might have to check the ground behind RG's bull ......

On the alignment front, I did have this earlier in the year. Cut bigger than normal and aligned a fair bit out of whack in comparison..... listed it for $60 ...... didn't sell ...... sob .....

Them's the breaks!

Its funny, yesterday it looked like that to me, and I just couldn't see it correctly. Today it looks normal. All a bit Escher-esque. ;)

I can't for the life of me see that incused flag
BUT I CAN see the fat lettering that looks, well, maybe like candles
