I picked up this box from an antique shop for $5 on our weekend away. It's got a silverfish eaten card stapled to the front that says it's to the manager of the Bank of New South Wales from the Reserve Bank of Australia.
I have some other boxes that I know were used to distribute coin rolls for changeover in 1966, this one is a bit different. Interesting though I'd like to figure out the who/what/where/when of this one.
It will be a lovely warm home for my changeover glassware in any case!

gee pp your getting an awesome collection of change over stuff and only a fiver ya can't go wrong :good:
How cool are they!!!
Not made of ticky tacky either .......
Cheers guys, I don't think this new one is as old as the 1966 one, could be more recent but the Bank of New South Wales became Westpac in 1982 so it's pre 1982 in any case.
well done PP

Older than '82... I'm sure I have a box of rolls older than that somewhere, and its cardboard.

Yeah I have 1c, 2c and 5c cardboard roll boxes from the late 70's from the RAM. This is the Reserve Bank though, maybe contained Reserve Bank rolls, or what about notes??

Good point. Not notes, that would be silly.
Perhaps coins from foreign mints? Wales and/or Canada?
As this box has the 1966 stamped into it, I am wondering if it was used in "operation fastbuck" to deliver the first of Australia's new decimal coinage back in 1966.

The second one does Trout yes and yes it was no doubt there.
It's the new box the first one in the thread that's in question.
Long time ago, but it looks like the boxes that the Reserve Bank
distributed the "Change Over"leaflet/doc's info in.
Pain in the butt to open.
Hardboard sides.
The rolls came in full radiata pine boxes.
excellent
perhaps the mystery is solved and PP has two perfect changeover examples

Would the Reserve Bank have distributed the pamphlets etc or the Decimal Currency Board?

From memory,
Pre and during the changeover the Advisory Board was the sole
distributor of all the doco's, in cardboard boxes though.
Nice score! Love it.
Lovely acquisition and all part of numismatics memorabilia .... good score PPH :)
