Me neither, unless you count being born O/S, and a trip to Antarctica. I figure there's more than enough Oz for a lifetime or two, so who has time? ;)

Welcome home Duggee, did you manage to find any good coin shops over there?

Glad to see you made it home safe and sound. (Saw the train crash etc in the papers).

thanks for asking and yes got back safely
had a wander around the diamond district where some shops were but of no help given and only small amount on display :dodgy:
but on another day came across stack bowers. greg was helpful and had long chat including pcgs vs ngc as mentioned on other thread.
had no aussie coins on hand but they do have some in upcoming auction.
sought info on u.s. coins and took a shine to the morgan dollars especially the blue toned ones -(can be a thread in itself)
so my souvenir is a common cheap coin but  i like it

Very nice Duggee, I've always liked them. I had a 1888 (from memory) when I was about 10 ..... not sure if I still have it.

Grading, despite being hopeless at it, I'll go MS62 .....

looks lovely to me Duggee
I am no silvers expert but it looks choice to me
nothing wrong with common years
it's the collecting that keeps our material history alive

Looks like NGC don't consider fingerprints a deterrent to the grade

Morgan's are great coins in any grade :good:
To visit the US and NOT get one of these would be unforgivable

No they don't, which I find a bit strange because fingerprint stains are one of my pet hates on a coin.
I consider them environmental damage as the acid in the sweat has etched into the coin.

I think that because the coins were handled by people it's considered a part of the minting process
I think they still mark them down
but it doesn't seem to no grade them

They certainly do factor fingerprints but while a fingerprint will turn a 67 into a 64-65, it probably will have very little effect on a 64.

this is not the best photo as it does not show the attractiveness of the blue toning around the outer edge BUT it does show the impact of a fingerprint.
this morgan is ngc ms65 and price tag of $us1100 +tax !!
these blue/coloured toned coins seem to bring a premium $ yet some collectors prefer "white",to me they seem too bright to be natural

just for those interested my coin cost $us109 inc tax, a souvenir that will not wear away, get eaten or put in a drawer and forgotten
