No, they're not coins. But what they are are examples of what you can do with a camera and some creativity. These girls are dressed completely in milk, not fabric.

Heh, yeah.. did you notice all the geniuses in the comments who "discovered" that and complained? Some people are incapable of reading I guess. ;)
I kinda feel sorry for the models. Hours of standing there naked being splashed with cold milk can't be much fun. ;)
maybe it wasn't cold
you can get shots of liquid moving like that
we took some great shots of the grandbaby in the bath here last week
in a lot of the shots the water is splashing up and out of the bath
the water is moving through the air and looks great
so I can see how the pictures could be layered
I think to get that smooth hand painted 1940's look - then yes, you could photoshop for that hand painted effect
I used to do that to photos when I worked with a photographer when I was younger - we'd get old black and whits and literally paint them
was once a common old art form but that isn't really done now - photoshop has replaced the human hand
Quote from: 'robbiegal' pid='31288' dateline='1382002395'maybe it wasn't cold
Well, ok, not ice cold, but certainly not cappuccino warm... ;)

Yeah, we did a lot of retouching and colouring in the shop. Mum was the resident genius at it, though I'd do the odd small job. Its now a lost art.

I went for a walk today, it being the first glorious
(but still very windy) day we've had in like forever, or so it seems. Came out of the path along Gardiners Creek onto the main drag during kiddy hour, so lots and lots of noisy 4WD mum taxis full of brats and tuckshop commandos.
Suddenly I hear, drowning out the traffic noise behind me...

Meh. Yanks are real good at low-tech heavy-duty "big iron" industrial design. Harleys, Kirby vacuums, Kenworth trucks, Cadillacs, etc.
Forget the wank value of owning any of these, and clearly there are much, much better, more civilised, high-tech and ultra-reliable alternatives from other parts of the world.
I would never have swapped my Suzy GS-850 for a Harley, for example.

it's all a matter of personal taste
ps we has a suzi 650 'waterbus' many many many moons ago
loved that bike and did thousands of miles on it - very long inland & coastal trips away with the tent and all that - it was fantastic - now, i just don't even know how i did it - that is youth for ya!!
The Suzuki 'waterbottles' were a great bike and restored examples pull in some good money.!!
I'm also a Suzuki man. My current ride:
You don't get too old to ride but the aches come a bit more frequently and painfully. Just have to remember that you can't do now what you used to do when you were 20.
My wife still goes pillion and it only took her 40 years to learn not to try and stand the bike up when I'm leaning it into a corner. She's even asking why I don't trade it in for a Harley but that's a bit hard to justify. A Triumph cruiser maybe.......

Dare I ask A.J.?.
:laugh2: nah nah mate, tis all good, it's one of the many different types of hornets we have here and I was telling someone here about them so thought I'd post a pic :) We would have to have about 20 different sorts here and that "THING" is a nest and you'll find them in garden hoses or exhausts or things like that and there's a few sorts of them and then there's the one's that build mud nests and then you have one's that use live caterpillars or spiders and then the spider split into other groups as well so there's some that use either all the same sort of spider or some that will kill any for the nest and then we have a few different wasps as well and quite a few different sort of bee's and other pollinators that are pretty cool.
How cool.!! We have a few wasps that like to build 'mud' nests and fill them with small bugs.!
yeah a lot of people don't take any notice of the small things around them and they miss so much, the only thing I don't like about them is they build where you don't want them too like in an exhaust :dash1:
yeah keep an eye on them building it them crack them open to see what they collect :)
Yay AJ, I reckon they're super cool as well. I hate it when they fill countersunk bolt holes though.
The spiders are still alive I think, in a state of suspended animation. (Look out Walt Disney!!!)
We've got the ones here that make the circular alien spacecraft nest. Then about 100 of them hatch out of the underneath and hang around until they grow up. I have been near them too many times to remember. If you hear a buzz ..... run like hell!
Must see if I can find a photo.
The spiders are still alive I think, in a state of suspended animation.
Yep correct mate, pretty bloody cool that the young get live food ready to go..yeah run alright :laugh2: I'll have to go take some more pic's as well :winkextra:

I would go with Huntsmen but it sound the same when speaking it.You
would say Huntsman spider for single and Huntsmen spiders for plural.

if it were me & there were more than one - i'd be screaming - huntmans!!!! - millions of them!!! - run for the hills !!!
Id go with Huntsman spider for single and Huntsmen spiders for plural. Huntsman describes the type of Spider, like Grey Wolf single becomes Grey Wolves plural.
I have just been looking around the net and I think it is
Huntsman spiders
as they are a huntsman spider - singular
and then when they talk about them in toto they are referred to as Huntsman spiders
It's nice to see you guys are having the same dilemma as me. :)

Great snaps Pedro. That really brings back some memories for me. Holidays when I was a kid was always at Narooma in tents etc at the caravan park just on the south side of the bridge. My Aunts and Uncles had permanent bookings there for a month every year during the Christmas holidays. Lots of fun. Yabbie pumping for bait. Whiting on the flats up the channel from the bridge. I remember the Australia rock.
Nice pic's Pedro :good:
Navy seal wannabe about to enter the water at Mullaway Headland mid north coast:
Great pics, brings back memories for me too.
I wouldn't call mullaway mid north coast Rob, I'd say north coast, and we don't have navy seal that's the yanks as they're called clearance divers in the RAN or better known as "pressure heads" :winkextra: He has to be good to get into them as they play with live explosive and stuff so a hell of a lot of training involved but hope he does well if it's something he wants to do :good:
My own parents retired to Dalmeny, a couple of kms north of Narooma. They had a small shop at the bottom of the hill adjacent to the tennis courts in Narooma.
Dad died whilst residing at Narooma way back in 1979. Mum sold up and moved up to Brisbane.
I have the same photo of the Australia Rock. It is located at the end of the breakwater where at times, one can see fishing boats in trouble getting in to the waterway from the sea due to huge waves and deadly currents.
While we taking the above photos we watched a launch go out the entrance and although it was a pretty calm day the boat still got thrown around a bit. Hate to think what it would be like when the swell was up.
I understand that they extended the breakwater to try and improve the passage into Narooma but obviously boaties still need to be very careful.
We also had a drive around Kianga and Dalmeny. Some very nice houses around there with great views overlooking the ocean.
Pedro
On the Narooma golf course where it edges the cliffs there was a cave down at water level that filled when the tide came in. Not sure but I think Hoges may have filmed a Winfield ad on the course there back in the day.
Did you go down to Mystery Bay a bit south of Narooma?
I remember there were heaps of beautiful (empty) abalone shells there in the surf. Also it was where I saw the largest crab I have ever seen in my life! It was in a gap between two huge rocks and I'd hate to estimate the size of it as people would suggest I buy some jousting sticks. :winkextra:
My mum and dad fell in love with Narooma when they first visited the place soon after arrival in Australia in 1959..
We scattered mum's ashes just off the coast just south of Dalmeny. Mum was in the WRENS during the war in UK. Mum loved the sea.
That was the last time I/we visited Narooma. Mums birthday, 11/11/2014 was when we committed the ashes to the sea.
Gee Uni I'm getting that Twilight Zone feeling again!
I took one photo of the golf course from the breakwater - Hogan's hole in there. My uncle tells me that the tee is behind the stand of trees in mid-frame and hitting back across to the left.
Mystery Bay you say! The reason we went to Narooma was to attend my cousin's daughter's 21st. The party was held at the Corunna Farm Retreat (Mystery Bay). We were otherwise occupied so didn't get down to the beach there on this visit.
This is what the man-made breakwater addition looks like (from the Australia rock side).

Top stuff Pedro!!!
(I'm sure that I'm in the Twilight Zone 99% of the time :laugh2:)
I'm not saying a word Uni :)
The Juno Probe has been sending back some stunning images of Jupiter. This one is the central cyclone at toe North pole, with eight other cyclones circling around.

To my untrained eye I think they look like anticyclones.
That's one amazing photo Jeff ..... although it's Jupiter I can't help Jeff Wayne's "The Red Weed" getting in the mind. Now seeing this I'm wondering if "Red Mercury" is actually real.
Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds", is a great CD. I have listened to it many times.
Thanks for reminding me Uni, I'll have to dig it out again.
Jeff is in Jupiter under the cyclones or Queensland? :)
Not a photograph but rather spectacular live streaming video.

That looks nasty. :(
Yeah, what amazes me as how the USA economy just seems to absorb all these catastrophe's every year and just keeps motoring along. Its also a wonder there is any Insurance Co.'s still solvent unless they don't insure against Cyclone/Tornado/Flood etc damage.
So that's why it went dark yesterday.

And I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids
