My UK 20 for 20 coin has arrived.
Ken
Arrived where?
At my house after being minted by the Royal Mint. The UK Royal Mint has followed in the footsteps of Canada by offering a silver coin (just over 1/2 ounce of silver) at face value (20 pounds).

That'd be nice if we knew where you were. Given that there was some discussion about whether they'd honour orders outside the UK and all...
My location is listed in my profile. I live in Southern England.
The Royal Mint is not the only mint who limits products to folks in their country\region.

Apologies. So few people fill in profiles that I long ago stopped looking.
Welcome ken-a, looking forward to some interesting stuff from the "Mother Land".!
nice I want one

Still no word about whether or not they accepted my order. Did anyone else get an answer one way or another? The website appeared to process it as normal, but I don't think they charged my card.
looks very nice, thanks for the pics Ken
it's a night for the arrival of shiney new sovvies here in the forum!

I noticed a charge on my card on Thursday.
At one time the website said 'Available to UK only', but it doesn't do that anymore. It let me order also.

Oh. Maybe domestic demand was lacklustre?
Or they wanted to give the UK first shot before opening up to others.
Website says over 115,000 sold out of 250,000, so response is pretty tepid so far.
makes you wonder why and who our mint is catering for pumping out so much when you take there'd be so many more collectors in a population of 450 mill + were we have a huge 20 odd mill so how many collect here..like ebay and most things and as Mark and I have said before it's all about the numbers or lack there of..but 250,000 still sounds a lot :)
I notice that they still have the "Limited to 3 per billing household" because of that I could only help out two other friends (one in the US and one in Canada) with these.
My Facebook query to the Royal Mint this morning:

My three arrived today, along with a couple of donations of Woolies cards (thanks guys, I'll see if I can fill gaps and post duplicates later).
They're extemely nice and beautifully presented. The RAM could learn heaps from the RM I think. Final nett cost came in around $50 each, which is not too bad IMO.
My card's been charged. Estimated shipping is 11th November.

LOL! Dunno what this guy is smoking, but it must be good stuff. Even the other one at around $80-ish with postage is a damn sight more than issue price landed, but this one's off the scale on my Rip-o-Meter.
Just had a good look at my three, and apart from one tiny scratch on one, and a small strikethrough on the rim of another, they are extremely high grade. Lizzy never looked so good, at least on anything from the RAM.
That happens a lot. The coin is still on sale from the mint for issue price with only about 50% of the mintage sold to date.
My three coins arrived today.
My fourth coin, or my first, going by order date, arrived today, via a friend in Kent. Cost me a couple of boomerangs, which led me to spend half a day with the world champion Boomerang thrower, who also makes them. Total outlay, including postage will be about the same as the ones that came direct, around $50.
We had a great chat about coins too. He collects a few, though not seriously. He does have a stack of the 1988 polymer $10, and actively seeks out silver 50¢ for under bullion value. And he pulled out the 2000 olympics silver $5 proof which featured boomerangs (he's kinda passionate about them). He seemed a little disheartened when I pointed out its likely not worth much over the $55-ish issue price.
Also turns out he had an uncle who was high up at the Melbourne mint from 1911 through around the end of WW2. He built three complete sets of everything they minted during this period, including 1930 pennies. When he died, one of the cousins conned the executor into letting him have all the coins. Said cousin is a millionairre architect who lives in a boomerang-shaped house he designed in North Carolina. Isn't it great how the haves always seem to come out ahead of the game? :dodgy:
wow
now that is one hell of an amazing story

I thought so, yeah. Mind you, if it happened to me, I reckon there might be an architect lying in a gutter someplace.. :diablo:
can you imagine how much those coins would be worth ?
let alone just the 3 unc X 1930 + 1925 pennies alone
maccas has the 1925 in GEM at $72,500 and the 1930 inGEM at N/s with the a/unc $210,000
it would just be spectacular
what a louse - didn't even share them with there being 3 sets

Worst part is there were three kids.. one set each. But since they had no interest in coins, he managed to pull it off. Super-Louse in my book.
While I can only imagine the condition, they'd surely all have to GEM. You don't put 30 or 40 years into building something like that to screw it up with crap examples.
So what, a million bucks, easy?
I knew this would happen:

What a load of Horse Poo!
Nice profit at $59 I reckon. Their cost was probably around $30.
£20 is about $35.25 AUS. The coin was at one time 'available to UK only' and 'exclusive to the Royal Mint' and '3 to a billing household'. Two of the three have been dropped. Apparently sales have slowed. I think they made too many of them.

Yep. People are silly... there was zero risk for poms... face value and free shipping, so why not grab a couple?
For us antipodeans however... well, mine came in just over $50 each, made a little better by the fourth one via a friend who I traded for some boomerangs
(the coin, not the friend :P). ;)
Limited to 10 per billing household until 16 December now.
