Title: 1924 Shilling
Post by: Triggersmob on September 26, 2013, 10:51:18 PM
Is it possible to tell if this coin was made at Sydney or Melbourne mint.

Rennicks varieties shows the same die cracks for both Melb. and Sydney minted coins. (Perhaps they used the same dies at both mints.??

I haven't heard of any way to tell the difference. The total mintage was quite low so I'd imagine only a handful of dies were used.

Kind of good that it isn't possible to tell who struck what with the 1920s silver because there'd be a whole lot more low mintages to worry about otherwise.
